The Turf Club Bar & Grill at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort in Walt Disney World has reopened after a month-long refurbishment with an updated menu featuring new and returning items. We visited to try all the new entrees, as well as desserts, an appetizer, and a cocktail.

Cocktail
*NEW* The Saratoga Cocktail – $21
Michter’s Single Barrel Rye Whiskey, Courvoisier VS Cognac, Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth, and The Bitter Truth Decanter Bitters

This tastes pretty much exactly how you would think. The rye whiskey is prominent but you also get the bitters and vermouth. It’s strong with a rich flavor.

Appetizers
*NEW* Crispy Chicken Wings – $16
Choice of Buffalo or Garlic-Parmesan Sauce, Blue Cheese, Celery

We opted to get these with the traditional buffalo sauce. They also come blue cheese and celery sticks. There are six wings and they are crispy, just as they should be. We appreciate that while they come sauced, they aren’t bathed and messy.

The sauce is potent. The vinegar is stronger than a normal buffalo sauce but it’s also spicier. It has a unique flavor but it’s good. We would come back just for these.

Entrees
*NEW* Cornflake Breaded Fried Chicken and Waffle – $29
Roasted Jalapeño Maple Syrup, Candied Bacon Butter

The chicken is a little dry but the breading is good and crispy. The waffle is perfect. So is the candied bacon butter and that helps balance the jalapeño maple syrup. Overall, it’s a little better than average.

*NEW* Braised Pork Shank – $34
New York Cheddar Grits, Bacon-Bourbon Glaze

The pork is very tender and the grits are fantastic. We do wish the sauce wasn’t over the grits because it covers up a lot of their flavor. In the future, we would ask for the sauce on the side. This is a delicious option.

*NEW* Char-grilled Butcher’s Cut – $44
Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables, House-made Steak Sauce

Our seasonal vegetables were carrots and broccolini. We got the steak medium rare and sauce is on the side. The steak is a little tough. It’s not melt in your mouth but not chewy either. It looks more tender than it is. It’s cooked well.

The mashed potatoes are spectacular. They would be a 7 but the steak doesn’t meet expectations.

*NEW* Spinach & Mushroom Linguini – $26
Mushroom “Cream” Sauce, Sun-dried Tomatoes, Spinach, Mushrooms, Basil-Tofu “Ricotta” (Plant-based)

The pasta has good flavor. It’s not creamy and we didn’t like the fake cream sauce. The mushrooms are good. We found the basil-tofu “ricotta” unnecessary and distracting. But this is generally a decent vegan option.

Desserts

*NEW* Apple Tart – $10
Caramel sauce, streusel, and “gelato” (Plant-based)

The fake gelato is pretty good. The tart itself is flaky and messy. The apples are thinly sliced and kind of like an apple pie, but without the sugary syrup.

There’s not enough caramel sauce to make the dish sweet, so if you don’t want a super sweet dessert, this is a good option. It’s a big dish, too.

*NEW* Vanilla Bean Cheesecake – $11
Strawberry sauce, and graham crumb

The presentation of this dish is the only real downside. If you order a cheesecake, this is not what you expect to get. But thankfully, it’s delicious. There’s unadvertised panna cotta and a chocolate coin on the side, which are great.

The cheesecake itself is light and fluffy with a vanilla bean flavor. It tastes dramatically different with the strawberry, but it’s still good. The crunch of the graham crumble is a good addition. This is one of the best things we had during the meal.

*NEW* Chocolate-Hazelnut Cake – $12
Hazelnut mousse and berry sauce

This looks rich and tastes rich. There’s just a little bit of berry sauce on the side. The tartness of the sauce cuts of a bit of the richness. But the cake is a bit dry. We’d like a drizzle of sauce on top or whipped cream or the panna cotta from the cheesecake, which would be great on this.
Rating out of 7: 5
*NEW* Salted Caramel Pot de Crème – $11
Vanilla bean panna cotta, pecan crunch, and citrus shortbread

This is a giant bowl of salted caramel. It’s pudding-like and has a really good first bite, but the flavor is so intense, we don’t think we could finish the whole thing. That said, we like it a lot. The panna cotta on top is the same as the cheesecake, so it’s good, and the shortbread stick is excellent. We liked this a lot, though not quite as much as the cheesecake.

Overall
We didn’t give out any 7s today but everything was floating near our top rating. Nothing was bad. And there’s plenty of returning items we didn’t review this time that are also great options. The menu is solid with a lot to offer. The new additions give it a wider variety of options.
The refurbished Turf Club Lounge is also nice and features some of the same new cocktails and appetizers. Turf Club is a beautiful space and often overlooked but we had a great experience.
