REVIEW: We Tried the Full Hurly-Burly Small Bites & Cocktails Menu

REVIEW: We Tried the Full Hurly-Burly Small Bites & Cocktails Menu

We reviewed all of the small bites and cocktails at Disney’s new jazz club, Hurly-Burly. The club is located on Disney’s BoardWalk at Walt Disney World Resort. There’s also a walk-up window outside offering select cocktails to-go.

Small Bites

Meatballs in Tomato Gravy – $15

Veal, Pork, and Beef Meatballs with Tomato Gravy, Stracciatella Cheese, Pecorino Romano, Toasted Focaccia | Plant-based option available upon request

There wasn’t much of a difference between the meat and vegan options. Changes were made to the meat, cheese, and sauce to make it vegan. The changes to the vegan sauce made it taste very acidic. The original version of the meatballs had a sweeter sauce, still not authentic Italian, but the meatballs were juicy and tender. We enjoyed the focaccia, which is included in both options, but it did not taste like traditional focaccia. We likened it to garlic bread. Overall, this was a good appetizer and a good value, with a portion of five meatballs and plenty of sauce.

Rating out of 7: 5 for the vegan version and 7 for the non-vegan version

Roast Beef Sliders – $17

Shaved Roast Beef and Horseradish-Mustard Sour Cream on Slider Rolls

The bread was soft and fresh, and we enjoyed the seasoning. The roast beef itself was tender, juicy, and flavorful. We wish the horseradish-mustard sour cream was stronger. We don’t consider them life-changing, but they would hit the spot.

Antipasto – $21

Sliced Meats, Burrata, Pecorino Romano, Marinated Vegetables

Antipasto – $21

It’s a big portion and a bit pricey, so splitting between a table would probably be good. This dish provides a lot of tasty ingredients that pair well with each other in various combinations, and it also comes with focaccia bread!

Mini Pretzels – $12

With Bacon-Cheese Fondue

We didn’t find these worth the price. They appeared to be overdone, even though they weren’t on the inside. Overall, they reminded us of and tasted like the frozen pretzel bites you would get from the store. The bacon-cheese fondue reminded us of the Canadian cheddar cheese soup from Le Cellier Steakhouse in EPCOT, but just a little richer.

Rating out of 7: 2 (sympathy points for the Bacon-Cheese Fondue)

Tomato Pie – $11

Focaccia, Tomato Sauce, Oregano, Pecorino Romano | Plant-based option available upon request

Tomato Pie – $11

It’s very fresh and the sauce is perfect (not too watery, not too thick). The cheese works perfectly as well. If you like carbs and pizza, you’ll enjoy this.

Rating out of 7: 5

Oven-roasted Shrimp – $19

Garlic, Herbs, Sweet Pepper-Onion Relish

Oven-roasted Shrimp – $19

We thought this was surprisingly good, especially if you don’t care for seafood. There’s no fishy flavor, and the peppers are fresh. The one downside might be that the garlic is very strong.

Theater Concessions – $12

Trio of Meatballs, Sugar Cookie, and Buttered Popcorn

We saw this dish more as a kids’ sampler plate or a snack for adults after a few drinks. The meatballs are a smaller portion of the Meatballs and Tomato Gravy that you can order with the focaccia bread, minus the cheese topping. We still really enjoyed the non-vegan version. The popcorn was stale and tasted like the park popcorn that sat out. We felt the sugar cookie was Publix-adjacent (which is high praise); it was soft and had the right amount of sweetness and sprinkles.

Rating out of 7: 5

Mini Apple Cider Doughnuts – $11

with Miso-Caramel Sauce

The miso caramel sauce was phenomenal, and the balance between the sweet and savory flavor profiles was perfect. The problem we had with this dish was that the doughnut holes themselves were too dense and dry. They weren’t bad, but we were left disappointed by the doughnuts.

Alcoholic Beverages

Overproof Amaretto Sour – $19

Lazzaroni Amaretto Liqueur, Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style Bourbon, Lemon Juice

We loved this drink. Its flavor is very similar to a whiskey sour or an Amaretto sour, but the bourbon was much more present. All the flavors were well balanced between the citrus and bourbon, and we found it very drinkable with a hint of sweetness.

Rating out of 7: 7

Caramel Corn Old Fashioned – $21

Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon, Caramel Corn, The Bitter Truth Decanter Bitters

The price is a little high, but we really enjoyed this drink. It tastes like a very good standard Old Fashioned, but you get a sweet, caramel corn flavor on the back end. We felt this flavor profile was unique and interesting, and that this will be a drink that sticks out in guests’ memories. The drink does come with a small side dish of caramel corn, which we believe to be the Werther’s caramel corn sold in the Germany Pavilion at EPCOT.

Rating out of 7: 7

Cherry-Vodka Limeade – $17

Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Amarena Cherry, Cold-pressed Lime Juice

This drink tasted like a cherry-limeade with vodka that was very present on the back end. We did find it to be very balanced; it wasn’t too tart. It also tasted like the ingredients included were fresh.

Rating out of 7: 5

The Atlantic Review – $19

Hangar One Mandarin Blossom Vodka, Cointreau Liqueur, Minute Maid Orange Juice, Sprite

Simply put, this drink was bad, and the only one we didn’t finish. All of the drink’s flavor was very forward, but it left you with nothing on the back end. We compared its taste to watered-down tang. The mixture of the blossom vodka and Cointreau made for a very unpleasant flavor combination. The texture of the drink also felt chalky. In addition, the drink wasn’t sweet and had more of a bitter flavor.

Rating out of 7: 2

Bubble Brava! – $18

Chinola Passion Fruit Liqueur, Italian Amaro, Lemon Juice, Viarae Prosecco

We really enjoyed this one. The drink was completely balanced. You can experience the freshness of the fruit without feeling that the drink is overly sweet. Italian Amaro is very bitter, but it was very well balanced, and you only tasted it on the back end. The passion fruit and lemon juice together almost tasted savory. We wouldn’t describe this cocktail as extremely bubbly, just enough to be crisp and refreshing.

Rating out of 7: 6

La Taquilla Picante – $18

Ghost Blanco Tequila, Lime Juice, Orgeat, Rose Water, Spiced Nutmeg Rim

This cocktail did have a bit of spice to it that you could feel in the back of your throat after a few sips, but it wasn’t as spicy as advertised. In the end, we felt that this drink was a solid, standard margarita with a little bit of spice. There wasn’t anything memorable or outrageous about this cocktail.

Rating out of 7: 4

Mertini – $19

Plymouth Navy Strength Gin, Dolin Dry Vermouth de Chambéry, Hella Cocktail Co. Orange Bitters

Visually, this cocktail is pretty, and the presentation is beautiful with the glass and butterfly pea. However, when it came to the taste, it just seemed like straight vermouth, and it tasted very medicinal. We enjoyed the Atlantic Review better than this drink.

Rating out of 7: 1

Road to Fame – $21

An Atlantic Coast-inspired Whiskey Sour made with Michter’s Single Barrel Rye Whiskey, Laird’s Straight Applejack Brandy, and Lemon Juice

We found this one to be very drinkable and enjoyable. The flavor was brighter than a whiskey sour. The lemon juice really came through all the other flavors, helping it to be a lighter drink, even with the other ingredients.

Rating out of 7: 6

Off-book Bramble – $19

Fords Gin, Combier Crème de Mûre Liqueur, Lemon Juice, Blackberry

This one reminded us of both the Blackberry Moonshine Sour in EPCOT’s American Adventure and the Huckleberry Punch at Geyser Point. This drink was not as tart and was more alcohol forward than the ones we compared it to, and if you like those, you would enjoy Off-book Bramble.

Rating out of 7: 5

Quality EntertainMint – $20

Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva Rum, Demerara, Lime Juice, Mint, Angostura Bitters topped with Viarae Prosecco

This drink has a very herby taste from the mint, but it wasn’t artificial. Overall, we really loved this one. We thought the fresh mint and rum were a great pairing; it wasn’t overly bubbly. The cocktail also wasn’t alcohol-forward or sweet.

Rating out of 7: 7

Non-Alcoholic Specialty Beverages

Overture in Orange – $6.99

Nostalgic Frozen Treat made with Minute Maid Orange Juice topped with Sweet Cream

This tastes like an orange dreamsicle and will have you slipping back into your childhood. It’s a fun drink that would be difficult to recreate at home. We love that they put this much effort into a non-alcoholic drink.

Rating out of 7: 7

Caramel Corn Cold Brew – $6.99

Joffrey’s Cold Brew Coffee topped with Caramel Sweet Cream and Caramel Popcorn

This is great. The caramel is perfectly balanced with the coffee. Nothing is overpowering.

Rating out of 7: 5

Cherry Marquee – $6.49

Minute Maid Premium Lemonade blended with Amarena Cherries and garnished with a Gourmet Cherry

The cherries are good and not too fake tasting. Combined with the lemonade, this drink is super balanced and refreshing. We would get this again.
