Mark Silverman, who voiced Rod Serling on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, clarified why he was at Walt Disney Imagineering last week.

“I went to Imagineering to buy a T Shirt and that is what I have in the bag I am holding, …that is reason I was there,” Silverman wrote in a new Instagram post, seemingly shutting down rumors that he recorded new dialogue for the Tower of Terror.
In his first post about his recent visit, Silverman said Walt Disney Imagineering was one of his favorite places to be. “It all started for me there in 1993, auditioning to narrate a brand new attraction for Walt Disney World called The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.”
Silverman was chosen by Disney and Rod Serling’s widow, Carol, as a match for the late Twilight Zone host. Archival footage of Serling is used in the ride’s pre-show alongside Silverman’s voice. Silverman also voiced Serling in an episode of the 2019 revival of The Twilight Zone.
In addition to lending his Rod Serling impression to Tower of Terror, Silverman has voiced Friend Owl in various Bambi projects, King in Disney’s dub of Howl’s Moving Castle, and King Jihl in Disney’s dub of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
In honor of the 30th anniversary of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror in 2024, you can watch the panel of Imagineers who created the attraction from our previous Stage 89 event:
Versions of Tower of Terror have existed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney California Adventure, Disney Adventure World (Paris), and Tokyo DisneySea. The Disney California Adventure version was reimagined into Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! The Tokyo DisneySea version does not feature The Twilight Zone theming.
Recently, Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been undergoing a significant exterior refurbishment. The tower’s lightning strike scarring was recently updated.
