Construction and painting continue to progress at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the new Monsters, Inc.-inspired land being built.
Monstropolis Construction Update
During our recent visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we noticed a team of painters actively working on the brick facade of what will become Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza (the replacement for PizzeRizzo).
After the painters left, we were able to see what they were working on. They appear to have been painting “Try Our Cans” on the side of the building (potentially a reference to Scream Canisters).
The block letters are faintly yellow with a shadow outline. We suspect the painters will be back to add more coats to make the sign more readable.
The rest of the building has bright white fang and horn detailing around the windows, and white “Public Restrooms” signs are painted on the green roof overhang below.
Interestingly, the “Try Our Cans” sign is not visible in the original concept art for this building, but much of the detailing has remained the same.
The water tower above the building has remained unchanged since our last update, as has the windows. Several windows are still waiting for glass installation.
Further into Monstropolis, we could see another team of crew members working on the facade of a different building. Plastic sheets have been taped to the gray brick facade and fabric covers some of the spike detailing.
More scaffolding can be seen throughout the land, and we noticed that the former MuppetVision-3D theater (the actual building itself, not the facade) was starting to be repainted.

Recently, cast members were invited to sign the construction beams for the new Monsters, Inc. door coaster, a time-honored tradition for new attractions being built.
