Walt Disney World Files Permit for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Construction

Disney has filed a construction permit for undisclosed work at Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Rise of the Resistance Permit

Disney’s Sourcing & Procurement team filed the permit on Thursday, October 8, listing Buena Vista Construction Company as the contractor. Buena Vista is Disney’s in-house construction group.

The general description of work reads, “Provide labor, material and/or electrical for construction”. Though that doesn’t give us much information, it’s likely that “construction” entails work more akin to maintenance than any grand overhaul or physical additions to the attraction.

If Disney was planning thematic changes to the ride, the permit would originate with Walt Disney Imagineering, as opposed to Sourcing & Procurement.

The complex attraction is somewhat infamous among frequent visitors and park locals, as several on-ride effects have experienced longstanding technical issues or alternate “B-mode” visuals since the ride’s opening.

A closure isn’t scheduled for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, but it’s possible it could experience some downtime for refurbishment.
