Walt Disney World Website Search Results Improved and Expanded

The Walt Disney World website has recently upgraded and expanded their search results, making it work more like the My Disney Experiences app.

The Walt Disney World website has been undergoing changes the past few months, including debuting a much more simplified front page back in August.

Now, the search results have also been improved and expanded. Previously, a search on the website mostly returned a list of page links. Now, the website tries to match a typed search phrase to locations across Walt Disney World.

Each result card now also includes more helpful information, including the location name, current wait time, operating hours, height requirements, and a photo of the location.

Searching by Attraction Name

If you search for “tower of terror,” the top result is The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The card shows a 13-minute estimated wait time, as well as the operating hours and height requirements for the ride. Other results include the operating hours for Hollywood Studios, as well as the collectible medallion machine located in the Tower of Terror gift shop.

Searching by Ride Type

You can also provide more generic search terms for rides. If you search for “rides for little kids,” the top results include guides to rides and attractions at Walt Disney World, as well as the Toddlers & Young Children Guide. Following those two results, there is a list of various “any height” rides across the resort.

Searching for “roller coasters” similarly brings up a list of attractions, this time with taller height requirements. You can see photos, operating hours, and the current wait times for the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as well as Space Mountain and The Barnstormer at Magic Kingdom.

Searching by Character Name

If there’s a particular character you’re interested in, such as Winnie the Pooh, the search results are now streamlined to include attractions and gift shops featuring that character, as well as character meet-and-greet locations.

For more rare characters like Duffy, some of the search results include card previews of planDisney question and answers.

Searching by Entertainment Options

You can also search by specific entertainment options. When you search “fireworks,” a Fireworks & Nighttime Entertainment guide is among the first results, as well as seasonal and restaurant firework experiences.

Similarly, “parade” brings up the current and upcoming holiday parades at Magic Kingdom.

Searching by Food Options

Craving a specific food? You can search for specific foods like “dole whips” to see locations across Walt Disney World that serve DOLE Whips. Each card features the location, operating hours, and price range of that eatery.

For those with allergies or intolerances, a search term like “gluten free food” brings up a link to the Special Diets Requests page, as well as some restaurants that offer gluten-free food off of their allergy menu.
