We love Mike Wazowski. We really do. And after Disney’s first look at the food coming to Monstropolis, it’s clear the culinary team loves him too. Maybe just a teeny bit too much.

The new Monsters, Inc. land is set to open in phases at Disney’s Hollywood Studios starting in 2027, and Disney recently gave us a “Sneak-Shriek” at what humans will be eating there. We covered the first look at the food, and one thing jumped out at us. Then it jumped out at us again. And again. Because so far, Monstropolis food has one big, googly-eyed theme…and it’s looking right at you.
“Is This Too Many Eyeballs?”
Chef Brian Piasecki (Director of Culinary and Concept Development) and Evan Rosenthal (Beverage Director) explained that making food that feels authentically monster-y but still appetizing to humans led them to some questions they never expected to ask in a test kitchen. Do monsters slurp? Do they chew? And — our personal favorite — is this too many eyeballs? The team’s official verdict? “You can never have enough eyeballs in Monstropolis!” We have…questions. Lovingly! From a safe distance! With a single, Wazowski-style wink!

Here’s what’s actually been revealed so far:
- Harryhausen’s (table service): Ramen bowls built on a legit foundation of rich tonkotsu broth and alkaline ramen noodles, with monster-y twists like fishcake sliced to look like eyeballs and green eggs. Disney also says the menu will be more than just sushi.
- Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza (quick service): A Monsters University-inspired neighborhood pizza joint, plus the real-world debut of Blort, Monstropolis’ favorite soda, which may arrive as a purple frozen drink topped with Scream Apple Foam.

And to be fair to Disney, we should note that the team was clear these are dishes being explored, not a final menu. Nothing is locked in yet, so consider this our friendly suggestion-box submission.
FIRST LOOK at Food Coming to Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios
Do We Need to do an Eyeball Count?
In Disney’s defense, eyeballs ARE kind of the Monstropolis brand. Before we even got to the food, the land’s concept art and design displays were already staring back at us:
- Harryhausen’s sign: Concept art shows a giant eyeball perched on top of two crossed chopsticks above the entrance. (The crossed steel for those chopsticks has already been spotted going up during construction.)
- The Glob Theater lobby: New concept art at Walt Disney Presents shows a pre-show area with a “Monster Concessions” stand and TWO chandeliers made of eyeballs and jagged teeth.
- The billboards: Mike Wazowski himself shows up on the “We’re Monsters, Inc.!” billboard in the land’s aerial concept art. That’s one very large eyeball, right there.
- The residents: Every monster pigeon, monster bunny, and street-level monster in the art brings its own eyeball count, whether that’s one, two, or “we stopped counting.”
- The Blort photo: Even Disney’s promo image for the drink features eyeball candies scattered across Monsters University binders.

So the land is already crushing it in the eyeball department. Seriously, gold star! When the building, the chandeliers, the billboards, AND the food are all eyeballs, we’d love to see the menu blink and look around a little.
What Are Fans Saying?
Honestly? The internet was nicer than we expected! As we rounded up in our post on fan reactions to the “grossly fun” food, a lot of folks were genuinely pumped. Plenty of commenters were thrilled to see ramen coming to Hollywood Studios, others were already counting down to their first sip of Blort, and some said the Harryhausen’s details are exactly what makes a land feel like stepping into the movie.

Of course, a few folks weren’t quite ready to make eye contact. Some fans called the food “mid” if what we’ve seen is the full menu, others said it looked bland in the photos, and more than a few were hoping Harryhausen’s would be a true sushi restaurant like the one Mike takes Celia to in the film. (There’s still a chance more sushi shows up, since Disney hasn’t shared the full menu.)
Harryhausen’s Concept Art
Our take? We’re honestly excited. The bones here are GOOD. Real tonkotsu, real alkaline noodles, and an eight-tentacled Audio-Animatronic sushi chef prepping food in the center of the dining room? Sign us up. We just want the personality on top to match the ambition underneath — and right now, it’s very, very eye-focused.

The Monstropolis Food We Actually Want to See
We already shared our wish list in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Could Do Something AMAZING in Monsters, Inc. Land. Let’s Hope They Don’t Blow It. A couple of our favorites from that list still stand:
- A Mike Wazowski pizza at Archie’s. Green pesto base, a pepperoni-and-cheese eye, a slice of green pepper. Tokyo Disneyland has been selling Mike Wazowski Melon Pan for years, and Magic Kingdom’s Mike Wazowski Cake proves this works stateside. (Yes, we realize this is technically another eyeball. ONE eyeball is the whole point!)
- Pun-tastic Harryhausen’s specials. A roll named after Roz. A “Schmoopsie-poo Special.” The Monstropolis Horn has already teased a Caterpillar Roll and a Terrible Teriyucki, so we know the puns are in there somewhere. Let’s get them on the menu!
- Monster ice cream cones. Early concept art showed guests walking around with monster-themed cones, and we’re still waiting on those.

But after looking at the newest concept art and construction photos, we’ve got a few NEW ideas for Disney too. Consider these our gift to the creative team:
Lemon Snow Cones from the Yeti. This one’s straight from the film! The Abominable Snowman offers Mike and Sulley lemon snow cones during their exile in the Himalayas. A shaved ice stand in Monstropolis serving lemon snow cones (“made from fresh yellow snow”…we’ll let marketing workshop that one) would be a perfect Florida-summer lifesaver.
A Randall Color-Changing Lemonade. Randall can blend into anything, so why not a drink that changes color before your eyes? A lemonade that shifts from blue to purple when you stir it would be a gorgeous, Instagrammable nod to everyone’s favorite sneaky villain. No eyeballs required.

Monster Concessions Popcorn at the Glob Theater. That Monster Concessions stand in the new Glob Theater concept art is begging for a Monstropolis popcorn — maybe a sweet purple-and-green “Glob” mix — served in a souvenir laugh canister bucket. Laughter is the city’s power source now, after all!
Monster Pigeon Cookies. Disney showed off figures of the land’s monster pigeons and monster bunnies at Walt Disney Presents, and they are adorable. A decorated sugar cookie or cake pop of one of these little city critters would be a super easy, very cute snack win.
Monster Pigeons
A Celia Birthday Cake. Mike takes Celia to Harryhausen’s for her birthday, so Harryhausen’s should absolutely have a celebration dessert for guests — maybe with green “snake hair” piping in Celia’s honor.
Archie the Scare Pig Everything. Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza is named after the Fear Tech mascot that the Monsters University crew famously pig-napped. A pig-shaped pizza, a “pig-napped” pork belly slice, or a pink frosted cinnamon roll with little ears? The pizza joint’s namesake is right there!

We’re not saying lose the eyeballs, Disney! The eyeball fishcake ramen looks fun, and we’ll be first in line to try it (and Blort). We’re just saying that Monstropolis is a whole city full of fur, horns, tentacles, scales, snow cones, and snakes, and the food can borrow from ALL of it. So yes, Disney, there CAN be too many eyeballs. But there can never be too many good ideas. Stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Monstropolis news as the land gets closer to opening!
