New aerial photos show the excavation progress of the indoor coaster coming to Dark Universe at Epic Universe.
Dark Universe Indoor Coaster Construction
On November 5, Universal announced that an indoor rollercoaster is coming to Dark Universe, the Universal Monsters land in Epic Universe.
In their Instagram post announcing the attraction, Universal said, “Located next to Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, the attraction will immerse guests in an all-new story inspired by the iconic Universal Monsters franchise. Construction is already underway, with an opening planned in the years ahead.”
Bioreconstruct shared new aerial photos of the construction site for the indoor coaster. Compared to previous photos, there is more activity, including excavation work. Universal began clearing the site for Dark Universe in August. Since then, construction has been ongoing.
Back in October, the construction site was primarily flat as the area was being prepped, but now, in the center of the site, there are large excavated holes and walls made from the dirt. There are also additional walls framing the portions of the site they are excavating.
Some of the holes being dug on the site are being cast with cement. There are also a few metal pipes within the site and a few structures, like short beams, placed into the ground.
In the center of the above photo is a set of concrete pilings with the dirt around them excavated and being prepared for casting a foundation.
Rumors suggest the coaster is themed to the Bride of Frankenstein. However, we don’t yet know this for certain.
One of the main attractions already in Dark Universe is Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, so it will be interesting to see how the rides might complement each other.
