Walt Disney Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer Jared Bush has expressed his desire to collaborate with acclaimed horror director Jordan Peele on a future animated project.

Jared Bush Wants Jordan Peele to Direct a Disney Animated Film

During a recent interview with Collider at the 2026 SCAD Savannah Film Festival, Bush was asked by interviewer Steve Weintraub to name a dream filmmaker he would like to work with who isn’t traditionally associated with Disney or animation.

Bush immediately named Jordan Peele, praising the filmmaker’s creativity and willingness to take risks:

“Oh my gosh. I need — immediately — for Jordan Peele to come to Disney Animation. That’s what I need. Because one: Brilliant filmmaker. He takes very, very big chances. Bold storytelling. I’d love to see what he would do with a Disney Animated film.”

Peele first rose to prominence alongside comedian Keegan-Michael Key on the sketch comedy series Key & Peele. He later established himself as an acclaimed horror filmmaker, making his directorial debut with Get Out in 2017.

The film, which starred Daniel Kaluuya, grossed approximately $259 million worldwide against a production budget of just $4.5 million. Peele subsequently directed Us in 2019, followed by the science fiction horror film Nope in 2022, starring Kaluuya and Keke Palmer.

Although Peele has never directed an animated feature, he has previously worked in animation. He co-wrote, produced, and voiced a character in the 2022 stop-motion animated film Wendell & Wild, directed by The Nightmare Before Christmas filmmaker Henry Selick.

Peele also has an existing connection to Disney through Pixar’s Toy Story 4, in which he voiced Bunny alongside Key as Ducky.

Bush, meanwhile, has helped shape several of Disney Animation’s recent projects, including Zootopia, Encanto, and Zootopia 2. He was named Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios in 2024.

At the SCAD Savannah Film Festival, Bush also participated in a presentation offering a first look at Disney Animation’s upcoming film Hexed.
