REVIEW: This Disney World Restaurant Could Really Use an Intervention

REVIEW: This Disney World Restaurant Could Really Use an Intervention

Disney Springs is packed with food options, so no matter what you’re in the mood for, there’s something for you to try. Whether you’re craving an elevated meal at a celebrity chef-led restaurant or some of the best cookies around, Disney Springs has you covered.

Taiyaki!

We recently stopped by YeSake at Disney Springs to see if it’s as good as we remember, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it still worth a stop on your next trip to Disney World’s shopping center? Let’s find out together!

Atmosphere

Tucked away on the West Side of Disney Springs, YeSake is a small kiosk serving a surprisingly large variety of international flavors! You’ll find a small selection of outdoor tables to eat at.

Menu

Here, you can find Japanese-inspired street food and build-your-own Poke Bowls, as well as specialty drinks including boba tea, Asian beers, and, of course, sake.

The menu!

And now, onto the main event — the food!

Drinks

To drink, we picked up the Boba Tea for $8. This is available in Hokkaido Black Milk, Strawberry Milk, and Taro Milk flavors, and we got the Taro.

Taro Milk Boba Tea

Taro is one of our favorite boba flavors because it’s usually very sweet and creamy, but unfortunately, YeSake’s Taro boba was underwhelming. The taro flavor tastes more like ube and wasn’t too sweet, and while we weren’t fans, this could be a plus if you’re looking for a not-too-sweet drink. The tapioca pearls were nice and chewy but tasted bland with little to no flavor. Combined with the very mild taro, it left us disappointed in the lack of flavor.

Eats

For the food, we grabbed YeSake’s Favorite for $15. This is made with sliced beef, lettuce, cabbage, onion, cucumber, pickled red ginger, tempura crunch, and spicy mayo.

YeSake’s Favorite

The beef was cooked well done while still being tender and soft. The cucumber, lettuce, cabbage, and onion added a crunch, while the pickled ginger added a little snap and spice. The rice at the bottom was fluffy and very fresh. The spicy mayo was creamy, salty, and a little sweet, adding a lot of flavor. This was very light, and with a huge portion size, it’s definitely worth the price.

YeSake’s Favorite

Then, we got the Chicken Bun with Sweet Teriyaki Chicken for $6.50.

Chicken Bun

The bun itself is super fluffy and airy, the exact texture you’re looking for in a steamed bun. The sweet Teriyaki chicken filling is very sweet, reminiscent of a barbecue flavor, but the texture was mushy and lacking any crunch. We wish this had a more varied bite!

Chicken Bun

Next up, we tried the Taiyaki for $6.75. This is a sweet red-bean stuffed pastry with Bavarian cream.

Taiyaki

This Taiyaki has a crunchy outside with a fluffy interior, holding a sweet and slightly salty red bean paste filling. The red bean had a starchy, paste-like texture that was a little dry. It’s served with Bavarian cream, but it wasn’t enough to redeem the dryness. We tried it a few years ago and loved it, but it’s become significantly drier. If you already have a drink to pair with it, it’s a unique and affordable option for a not-too-sweet dessert.

Nosh or Not

This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…

  • You’re an adventurous eater. This is totally going to be your place if you love Japanese food and want to try some different foods you might not have tried before. There are lots of sauces and toppings to add, and you can try dishes like Ahi Tuna Poke and tofu, too.
  • You’re looking for affordable bites. Smaller dishes can be priced around $6 to $7, and the bowls are around $13. Don’t forget to add on some sauces, too, since only the Yum Yum Sauce is an additional cost. It’s also nice to grab a quick bottle of soda or water for around $4.
  • You need a quick and easy snack. Since YeSake serves street food, it’s easy to grab small bites to keep you going. One of the bowls can be a light lunch, or the Chicken Bun or Karage can hold you over while you head to your next stop.

You should skip this Disney World spot if…

  • You’re ready for a bigger meal. YeSake is great for small dishes or snacks, but we wouldn’t plan to have an entire feast here. It’s nice for a quick lunch, or if you’re looking for something to hold you over until your dinner reservation. It’s an easy place to grab savory snacks since there are so many sweets at Disney Springs.
  • You don’t want to search for tables. YeSake is a food kiosk, so it doesn’t have any set tables indoors. You’ll need to eat outside, and while there are some tables in the area, if it’s full, you might be able to walk around a bit before you find a spot. Don’t forget that Florida has some wild weather, too.
  • You’re looking for the best meal of your entire trip. We do love YeSake, but we wouldn’t say this food will completely blow you away. If you’re already at Disney Springs, it might be worth a stop, but this typically isn’t a place we go home talking about for months after.

Overall

We enjoyed our meal at YeSake, but as with most Asian food in Disney World, it didn’t blow us away. Most of you can find similar items at Asian restaurants near your home, so it’s more of an I’m-craving-Asian-food-in-Disney-World vibe than a You-NEED-this-life-changing-meal recommendation. If you like Asian food and you’re already at Disney Springs, it’s an affordable and tasty option. But even after trying it again, we still think it needs an intervention to make it a must-eat!

Our YeSake spread!
