Walt Disney Imagineering shared a behind-the-scenes look at the Easter eggs and secrets behind the new show sets and animated queue scene at Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Updates

Last year, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure converted from 3D to 2D. The former 3D glasses station in the queue has become a vent showcasing the silhouettes of bustling rats.
Associate Show Set Designer Sarah explained in the latest episode of WED Walks that she measured a vent that already existed in the ride’s load station to ensure the new vent had the same proportions.

New set pieces on the ride were informed by similar changes to the Disneyland Paris version, resulting in nearly identical updates. In one scene, a giant box of spilled linguini helps mask the seam between a screen and the floor. This is actually a ramp with linguini pieces on top. Imagineers spilled an actual box of spaghetti as reference for the props.

The linguini features a reference to 1401 Flower St, the Walt Disney Imagineering address in Glendale, California. The brand of the linguini seen on the top of the box is Glendali. On the side, it’s labeled Linguini No 1 401g.

Many of the new order tickets in this area are for the “Sweetbread Special,” based on an order ticket seen in the Ratatouille film.

A new rat trap next to the spilled linguini is a replica of the animated rat trap Skinner gets his hand trapped in later on the ride. Imagineers reached out to Pixar and the studio sent them the actual model they used to animate the trap. Imagineers then replicated it on a larger scale.

Under the giant dining cart is a new bumper bar, also hiding where the screen meets the floor. It’s designed to look like an extension of the cart. Imagineers also relocated the scene’s speakers from behind the screen to the bumper bar, where they are angled behind three perforated panels.

In the ride’s finale is now a giant charcuterie board. The only door this set piece could fit through was on the other side of the building, so it took the same path as ride vehicles to reach its destination.
Imagineering worked closely with the park’s operations team to ensure Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure did not have to experience any downtime during prop installation, which meant work took place overnight. The charcuterie board’s installation took two nights. On night one, they removed props already in the space. Then they installed the board on night two and replaced those props on top of the board.

A block of cheese on the board hides a speaker, moved to improve the audio experience for guests. It also operates as a reference to Sarah’s dad, as she explains in the WED Walks video below.
