Hey Disney snack-loving friends! Even at this time of year, a Disney day can leave you feeling hot, bothered, and very much in need of a cool treat to break things up. That is where a scoop or two of ice cream can make all the difference, and the new monthly flavors at Salt & Straw have already stolen my holiday heart! With locations at Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort and Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort, there are plenty of reasons to make room for a little something sweet on your next visit.
Over at Disneyland, Salt & Straw is just steps away from the parks, making it an easy stop when you need to duck out for a refreshing midday treat before heading back for more fun. At Walt Disney World, I would be more inclined to work a visit into a Disney Springs shopping afternoon or a relaxed resort day when there is time to enjoy every last bite without rushing off to the next attraction. These new flavors have me practically drooling already, and I simply must try them all! Let’s take a look at what is on the menu.
Parker House Rolls with Salted Buttercream
Everyone loves a bread basket, and ours is brimming with warm, fluffy buttered rolls. Slightly sweet, lightly toasted, and finished with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt, these melt-in-your-mouth dinner rolls are gently folded into a rich, sweet-and-salty butter ice cream. Simple yet irresistible, this classic starter gets everyone excited for what’s to come.

Maple Koginut Squash with Pomegranate
This year, Row 7 is bringing the side: a roasted squash casserole by the pint. The seed company, founded by Dan Barber of Blue Hill, works alongside chefs, farmers, and plant breeders to develop flavorful new organic vegetables—and their Koginut Squash has become a cult favorite. Roasted, the squash becomes velvety, and its rich, nutty flavor lends a fresh herbaceous-ness to the maple syrup and sage ice cream. A deep, wine-like pomegranate jelly ripples across every scoop with a bright acidity that cuts through the caramelized sweetness. Buttery Ritz-cracker-and-hazelnut crumble folds in for a textural crunch, like the topping of your favorite baked Thanksgiving dish.

Pumpkin Pie with Almond Croissant Streusel
A rich, golden pumpkin-spice custard layered with pumpkin pie filling and almond croissant clusters. Velvety, buttery, warmly spiced and very generous with the crunch. Exactly the kind of dessert that deserves a second helping.

Turkey and Bacon Caramel
Silky caramel ice cream gets its deep savory flavor from heavy cream infused with turkey and bacon. We sear them together, deglaze the pan with cream and let all that flavor steep before churning it with a ribbon of caramel. Rich, smooth and salty-sweet, with a savory finish. One bite and the whole thing makes sense.

Cranberry Shortbread Tart (v)
Orange zest, vanilla, cinnamon and salt bring warmth to a creamy coconut cream. Cranberry jelly runs through every scoop alongside generous pieces of cranberry tart. Bright, rich and ready for its place at the Thanksgiving table.

Now, I have to say, the only downside to this new lineup is that nothing else I eat for the rest of the day is likely to live up to the taste sensations I have already imagined in my head! I may need to plan my entire Disney day around making room for these scoops, and I am perfectly happy to admit that. So, friends, which of these new flavors would you try first?
