What do you do when you need to escape the crowds and noise of Disneyland?

Maybe you just ignore the chaos and indulge in churros, corn dogs, or Mickey beignets. Or maybe you just deal with it, grin and bear it, and take breaks when you can. Or maybe you spend a few extra dollars to enjoy an exclusive lounge that’s not only an escape from everything but also allows you to come and go as you please throughout the evening.

If that last bit sounds good to you, we’ve got some great news — the Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge has officially reopened! We recently visited it so we could give you all the details about what the experience is like now!

But first, what exactly IS the Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge? Well, it’s a paid experience in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland that gives you exclusive access to a lounge where you’ll get fed (you get a choice of an entree, a side, a dessert, and unlimited assorted beverages). More importantly, you get nice view of Disneyland’s fireworks later that evening.

However, the best part is that once the lounge opens for the night, you can come and go as you please, so if you need to get away from the crowds for a while, you can do so multiple times that night. All this could be yours for $60. But is it worth it? Let’s find out.

Atmosphere

To check in for the Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge at your reservation time, you can either go to Window 1 at Galactic Grill or to the Tomorrowland Skyline Podium near the entrance of Alien Pizza Planet. You’ll see signs at both locations indicating where you need to go.

We checked in at Galactic Grill — there’s a podium where you’ll check in. Here, you’ll also be given a menu and then you’ll be directed to the window to order your meal. You’ll have to wait for your food here, too, so you can take it up to the lounge.

We were also given a badge and lanyard that allowed us to come and go as we pleased.

So once we had this, and our food, in hand, we headed up to the second floor to the lounge. We will say that it’s a bit of a hassle having to carry a tray of food up to the second floor, though.

Once you reach the second floor, you’ll see standard tables and chairs, where you can sit and enjoy your food. These are all outdoors, and there’s a chance you may need to share a table/counter with other parties.

The area is private and it’s perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the park without having to actually leave the park. You’ll also find some giant games, including Checkers, Jenga, and even Connect 4. This is a great option to keep kids busy if you just want to chill here until the fireworks.

But what makes this location stand out is the awesome view you get of Tomorrowland (and feel free to walk around and take it all in).

Of course, if you walk around, you’ll also have a great view of Sleeping Beauty Castle and the Matterhorn. But this is a nice spot for seeing the Disneyland Forever fireworks show.

However, if you do watch the fireworks from here, it’s weird because the music isn’t piped in on speakers, so you’re just seeing the show and not hearing much of it. You also don’t get a view of the projections during the show since you can’t see the castle very well.

Eats

So what is the menu like? Well, it’s pretty standard fare with two meat-based entrees: Meaty-Or Sandwich and Chicken Star-Mesan Sandwich. There’s also one plant-based option, the Supernova Pasta Bake. You’re also given a selection of Seasonal Desserts.

The experience also includes unlimited beverages, which are available via a cart (you’ll also find plastic utensils and paper napkins here, along with an assortment of condiments).

Beverage selections include a variety of Coca-Cola sodas and waters.

We ordered the Chicken Star-Mesan Sandwich, which is a Breaded Chicken Breast topped with Zesty marinara, Provolone, Herb Medley, and Pesto Aioli on a Ciabatta Roll, served with choice of Seasoned Fries or Pasta Salad. We got Fries as our side.

What set this sandwich apart was the delicious aioli, which had just the right amount of garlic — it was the REAL star of this baby. But the Herb Medley (basically Arugula) didn’t do anything for this sandwich — it didn’t even add any additional texture. The chicken was warm and the marinara was just zesty enough and worked great with the chicken and provolone and the ciabatta was the perfect bread for this sandwich. We also liked that the fries were seasoned just enough to have a bit of a spicy kick.

For dessert, we chose the Chocolate Bomb — because CHOCOLATE. It’s a Chocolate Mousse Bomb with Vanilla Mousse inside. The presentation is also cute — look at the little stars on it.

This is a VERY rich dessert, but a must for chocolate lovers. We loved how the vanilla sort of added just a bit of extra sweetness to all that chocolate. If you’ve ever had the Chocolate Dome Celebrate cake from Disney World, it’s sort of like that.

With that being said, though, apart from the presentation, there was nothing that made this meal feel exclusive, especially for $60 — but again, you’re paying for the view and a more private Disneyland experience.

Nosh or Not

Book the Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge experience if…

• You want a unique experience at Disneyland — if you’ve been to Disneyland often and want to do something different, this could be just what you’re looking for.
• You want a different view of the fireworks in Disneyland. If you’ve seen the fireworks from Main Street, U.S.A. every time, this is a fun view to watch the show from (even if you can’t hear the music very well).
• You have little ones. There are several games to keep them occupied, plenty to see from the lounge, and it’s a great way to give your kiddos (and yourselves) a break from the hustle and bustle of the park.

Skip the Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge experience if…

• You’re on a budget — $60 per person is a lot to pay for standard Disneyland food. If you’re just interested in a good meal, you could eat at a nice table service restaurant instead.
• You want a full Disneyland Forever fireworks experience — you won’t be able to hear the music from the fireworks show very well here and you can’t see the projections at all.
• You want more food options — the food here is limited to just three entrees (and just one plant-based one) and whatever desserts they happen to put out. You can get more variety at other Disneyland counter service restaurants.

Overall

Although we liked the private feeling of having what felt like our own chill space in Disneyland, we can’t justify spending $60 for the food offered here. There are so many better dining options, even at lower price points, at Disneyland, so if you’re just coming here for the food, it’s certainly not worth it.

We will say that the $60 IS worth the experience we had here. The service was top-notch and the Cast Members were genuinely excited about the lounge reopening. The board games were a nice addition, especially for parties that have children who need to stay entertained while the adults take some much-needed chill time. We also loved the views and it was a nice change of scenery — the ability to come and go as you please is a major perk.

If you are considering booking the lounge, though, you’ll want to make reservations in advance (you can make them for up to 60 days in advance).
