Last week we shared a first look at TRON Lightcycle / Run’s dazzlingly bright canopy as it tested for the first time at Walt Disney World Resort. Today Walt Disney Imagineering finally shared their momentous milestone with a post on Instagram. And we know it’s official name — the Upload Conduit.
Imagineering explained its purpose in the caption saying, “this curved-wave structure serves as the Upload Conduit to the Grid, where guests, known as Users, will race beneath on Lightcycles as they begin their competition.”
The rollercoaster launches underneath 1,200 light fixtures attached to the white canopy above. The track and exterior plaza will sit beneath the hexagon-patterned lights. Imagineers will continue working over the next couple months to add more elements to this light show.
With this news, an opening date can’t be far behind! But we have no definitive window yet, and rumors say it could be as late as in 2023.
