It’s Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, and Disney is celebrating in a big way…with FOOD!
Disney World got a bunch of new treats in honor of the occasion that are spread across the parks and the resorts. We’ve already tried out a few different ones, but now, we’re heading to Art of Animation Resort to get a returning snack!
Earlier this year, the Mirabel Cupcake came to All-Star Movies and Art of Animation, but now it’s also available at All-Star Music, All-Star Sports, and Pop Century! The returning treat is a cinnamon cupcake filled with custard and topped with coconut buttercream, toasted coconut, and Mirabel-inspired fondant garnishments.
You can order it for $6.29, and it sure is pretty!
This cupcake is sooo yummy. The cake is moist and has a nice and light cinnamon flavor, but it’s still sweet. The custard inside is very rich and it’s not overwhelming in any flavors so it really lets the cinnamon cake flavor shine.
The coconut flavor in the buttercream is there, but it’s pretty faint. It’s really more just generally sweet. The ONLY thing we didn’t love was the texture of the toasted coconut, because there’s a lot of it on top. If you don’t have any issues with that texture, then you don’t need to worry!
It’s a great sweet treat for adults or kids — it’s simple enough that picky eaters should like it, but different enough to still be unique. If you don’t like coconut or cinnamon though, steer clear.
But it’s not just the cupcake! Also at these spots, you can order Chef Ludy’s Arroz Mamposteao. It’s crispy pork carnitas served with Spanish-style rice and beans, pickled onions, and crispy plantains. Sounds delicious! We purchased it for $12.99.
This was SO DELISH, you guys! The rice is super flavorful and moist, and the pork is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
The sauce adds a bit of a kick and is very fresh and light. The plantain also adds a nice salty crunch with just a mild flavor.
Some of the smaller pieces of pork were just a little bit dry, but not enough to take away from the overall dish.
We think a lot of people will really enjoy this one, but you might have a hard time with picky eaters or kids. Otherwise, it’s a great lunch or dinner option for anyone that wants a decent meal that’s different from your typical theme park food.
That’s all we’re trying right now, but we’ll be checking out more snacks soon, so stay tuned to DFB for even more reviews!
There are lots of new snacks around Disney World right now with the Halloween and 50th Anniversary festivities, so there should be plenty of things to try on your next visit.
