This fall, MagicBand+ will debut at Disneyland Resort, bringing the MagicBand to the West Coast for the first time! At Walt Disney World, we’ve had MagicBands since 2013, and just now, Disneyland will finally have the option to buy MagicBands, well, MagicBand+.
Disney Parks just announced that these bands would be launching soon. For our Disneyland friends, here are the steps to make sure you link everything properly so that you can all have a smooth transition into the MagicBand life.
“At launch, this wearable will boast a host of convenient capabilities – with more to come in the future! Connect your MagicBand+ to your theme park ticket or Magic Key pass in the Disneyland app for an easy way to enter the Disneyland Resort theme parks (valid Park admission and reservation required), or use it to check in at Lightning Lane entrances (separate valid Lightning Lane entry required). After capturing precious memories with a Disney PhotoPass photographer, a tap of your band links the photos to your Disney account.”

Now, let’s break down what you can do with your band and how it will interact with the park.
- The MagicBand will sync with special moments during select nighttime spectaculars. Meaning it will change color and vibrate with the show. As Disney put it, “your band will complement the magic in the skies.”
- MagicBand+ will also light up and interact with “World of Color” in Disney California Adventure park and “Fantasmic!” They also note that it may interact with other nighttime shows at Disneyland Park.
- Of course, you will be able to explore Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland park and play the Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters game throughout the land.
Disney also released a graphic explaining what your MagicBand+ can do and its features, like that it’s rechargeable and waterproof.
