We’ve been keeping up with all the latest updates on the Brightline high-speed train coming to Orlando.
And, even though the train will no longer be making a stop at Disney World, it’ll still get you pretty close — not to mention it will be near Universal Orlando’s new Epic Universe park as well. Although we still don’t know when exactly theme park-goers and travelers alike will be able to hop aboard — it looks like we’re getting closer to the Brightline train opening!
Brightline is getting one step closer to opening its Central Florida route as high-speed testing will begin this weekend, according to Fox 35 Orlando.
The trains will be tested throughout northern Brevard County to prepare for the Orlando opening, with test speeds as high as 79 mph this month. After the initial testing is completed, the next phase will begin where speeds will increase to 110 mph.
Testing is expected to bring long waits for drivers at railroad crossings affected by the work, but flaggers will be present to help manage traffic.
Although there won’t be a stop at Disney Springs anymore, there will still be a train stop near the popular tourist spot. Guests will be able to get close to Disney World via Brightline train, but it won’t actually get you onto Disney World property.
Disney hasn’t commented on whether or not they’ll consider a transportation service between the station and Disney World, so for now, it sounds like a ride-share or taxi service will be your best bet.
Keep in mind you can still use Mears Connect and Sunshine Flyer from the Orlando Airport. Both are paid services, and they function similarly to how Magical Express worked. Guests can also choose to rent a car, call for a taxi, or book a ride share through services like Uber or Lyft.
