To ensure we are equipping our readers with all the information they need, we will continue to report on all travel, safety, and COVID-related news that could impact a Disney Parks visit.
Health and safety procedures related to COVID-19 have continued to change and be updated both in the Disney parks and on the Disney Cruise Line. We recently learned that COVID-19 vaccinations would not be required for guests on Disney cruises, and now there’s a NEW update about COVID-19 testing.
Before you head to your Disney cruise, you’ll want to double-check the requirements for boarding the ship. Policies about vaccines, testing, and other boarding procedures have changed frequently, so it’s best to be prepared. We’ve been watching for any updates, and now we have details about the most recent change, which will take effect soon.
Disney announced that guests will no longer be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test prior to sailing beginning on November 14th, 2022 (for all sailings departing from the United States). This applies to all guests, regardless of vaccination status.
As part of this change, Disney noted that anyone who booked sailings departing the U.S. between November 14th, 2022, and January 31st, 2023, “may modify or cancel their sailing by Nov. 13, 2022, without any Disney-imposed cancellation fees.” Normal cancellation fees will apply for any cancellations or modifications that happen after November 14th, 2022.
Disney is sending out emails to guests who booked sailings happening between November 14th and January 31st with this information. Note that Disney still “highly recommends” that all eligible guests be fully vaccinated and take COVID-19 tests no more than 2 days before their sailing. But these will no longer be requirements to board the Disney Cruise Line ships.
Guests will still need to complete online check-in before sailing. This check-in process opens 30 days before the cruise begins, and we recommend checking in ASAP so that you can choose your preferred port arrival time (some of the arrival time slots may fill up, so it’s best to book early for more options).
Disney announced previously that guests sailing on the Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wish would no longer be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, beginning on October 14th, 2022. This same change goes into effect for the Disney Magic on November 7th, 2022.
With this change, anyone sailing with the Disney Cruise Line will not be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and will also not be required to submit proof of a negative COVID-19 test. Online check-in and port arrival time selection are still required before you can board the ship.
