Every place at the Disneyland Resort is getting into the holiday spirit — including Smokejumpers Grill at Grizzly Peak at Disney California Adventure. We stopped by to try their new holiday beverages, including a non-alcoholic maple-bacon shake, a non-alcoholic Pineapple Limeade, and the Holiday Punch Cocktail.
Maple-Bacon Shake – $6.99
Maple-flavored Shake topped with Whipped Cream, Bacon Bits, and Maple Drizzle
Smokey, sweet and salty is how you find this milkshake. A maple drizzle is swirled inside the cup alongside maple-flavored ice cream. Whipped cream, bacon bits, and more maple drizzle top this holiday milkshake.
We found this maple-bacon milkshake light and delicately sweet with a subtle maple flavor that is just enough to be satisfying without delivering a sugar overload. The smokey bacon is fragrant and brings a savory, salt-hardiness to the shake. It is the perfect combination and works very well with the sweet, creamy maple ice cream.
If you want more smokey flavor, drink from the rim of the cup. If you want more sweet maple flavors with a hint of bacon, drink from a straw. It’s up to you, but trust us on this one. Overall, we really enjoyed this shake, and it’s one of the best on offer at Smokejumpers Grill.
Pineapple Limeade – $5.49
Limeade, Pineapple Juice, and Sour Green Apple Syrup with a Red Sugar Rim
From the mixing of the limeade, pineapple juice, and the red sugar rim, this beverage has more of a Grinch vibe than anything Disney. Unfortunately, from the first sip, this was an immediate nope. It tastes like a gummy worm that was dissolved in a melted popsicle.
This Pineapple Limeade is entirely too sweet and has a generic green flavor.
It’s cute and very photogenic and will look great on Instagram, but once you snap the pictures, it’s best to pour it out.
Holiday Punch Cocktail – $16.00
Vodka with Cranberry and Orange Juices, Garnished with Fresh Cranberries
If you’re looking for a little more of a festive libation, this Holiday Punch Cocktail might be the one you’re looking for.
It’s a simple, sweet cocktail with cranberry and orange as the predominant flavor. Even though there is a bit of punch from the vodka, it still works. Vodka and cranberry go together. Vodka and orange go together. Cranberry and orange go together. So, it stands to reason that this trinity of flavors together should work well. And they do.
This is a dangerous drink simply because it is so easy to drink. And if it’s a hot day, you might find yourself enjoying five or six of these thirst-quenching holiday punch cocktails. Unfortunately, you might be laid out for the rest of the day. We enjoyed it, and although it wasn’t our favorite cocktail at DCA, we could see returning for this at some point.
