A LOT is going on at The Walt Disney Company right now, after the departure of Bob Chapek and the return of Bob Iger in the role of CEO.
Many are expecting a major shake-up within the company, and we’ve seen already started to see hints of this with the departure of Kareem Daniel, who was a head of Disney’s of media and entertainment. Now, another executive is leaving the company.
Variety is reporting that Arthur Bochner, Chapek’s former vice president of strategic communications, has also left the company. This may not come as a surprise as he also served as Chapek’s lead speechwriter. Bochner was serving in this position when Chapek initially responded to the Florida “Don’t Say Gay” law, which caused walkouts and protests by many Disney employees.
Bochner was also behind Chapek’s comments during Disney’s recent quarterly earnings call, something that is believed to have led to his departure from the company. Disney’s stock dropped drastically after that call.
Bochner’s job description included “reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, led and set vision for new strategic communications function charged with protecting and enhancing The Walt Disney Company’s reputation with external and internal stakeholders.”
