The Walt Disney World Railroad has reopened at Magic Kingdom after four years. It closed in December 2018 for construction of TRON Lightcycle / Run — which we can now see from the train!
This billboard advertising TRON Lightcycle / Run has been in place for years.
We didn’t get to look at construction for long. The Walt Disney World Railroad trains go through a tunnel beneath the coaster.
The tunnel is bookended with planters full of flowers and trees.
The interior of the tunnel is black with some cylinder lights.
There are small windows looking out to a walkway beneath the coaster.
The slanted columns support the coaster and canopy. The straight vertical columns support the elevated walkway leading to the coaster.
This ground-level walkway will likely lead to Storybook Circus. The old shortcut between Tomorrowland and Storybook Circus was demolished for construction of the new coaster.
There are a few temporary wooden archways over the sidewalk.
Train riders can get a pretty good view of the coaster’s launch from below the elevated walkway up into the canopy.
We actually saw a line of lightcycles launch while we were moving through the tunnel.
TRON Lightcycle / Run ride vehicles have been testing, sometimes with Cast Members, for several weeks.
After the tunnel, the view of the roller-coaster is blocked by more trees.
