Each month we’ve been watching the changes in flight costs — seeing whether your trip to Disney World might be more or less expensive than you might expect. Now, we’re diving into the costs for February flights to the Most Magical Place on Earth to see just how flight costs are changing.

Our Method

Each month, we look at the average cost to fly from various airports within the U.S. to Walt Disney World. Here’s a quick breakdown of what we do to reach our numbers.

• We limit our search to flights from a select number of airports on a limited number of airlines in the U.S. to Orlando International Airport (MCO)
• Not all airports, airlines, flights, etc. are included
• We look at flights that leave on Thursday and arrive on Monday

For our February 2023 trip, we picked a trip that departed on February 23rd and returned on February 27th.

Why? Well, when we looked at each set of February dates from Thursday to Monday on Google Flights (for flights from JFK/LGA to MCO — which is what we typically use as our starting point) the starting prices were:

• February 2nd-6th: from $76 round trip
• February 9th-13th: from $95 round trip
• February 16th-20th: from $236 round trip (expensive!!)
• February 23rd-27th: from $95 round trip

We picked the 23rd-27th because it was neither the cheapest nor the most expensive period — placing it somewhere in the middle.

Here are a few other things to keep in mind:

• Flight costs can vary a LOT depending on the dates you pick, the airline you fly with, the airport you’ll be flying from, etc. so just keep that in mind
• We used Google Flights to get our prices (except for Southwest Airlines) — prices could vary when you go to book
• To calculate our “low” averages we looked at the least expensive departing flight and least expensive returning flight for each airline/airport
• For the “high” averages, we essentially did the same thing except we looked at the most expensive flights

• The times of the flights, number of layovers, and other things for the ones we’ve chosen might not be convenient or work with your plans
• We stuck to “Wanna Get Away” tickets for Southwest Airlines (when possible)
• We looked for flights that arrived on the same day as their departure
• Other fees and taxes might be due when you go to book
• All prices are for roundtrip flights for 1 person

Alright, now let’s look at the flight costs for February 2023!

New York (JFK or LaGuardia)

Southwest:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $235.96 from LGA
• Most expensive combination of flights: $557.46 from LGA

Delta:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $258 from JFK
• Most expensive combination of flights: $1,584 from LGA

United: 

• Cheapest combination of flights: $339 from LGA
• Most expensive combination of flights: $785 from LGA

American Airlines:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $259 from LGA
• Most expensive combination of flights: $1,225 from JFK

Spirit:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $101 from LGA
• Most expensive combination of flights: $259 from LGA

Los Angeles (LAX)

Southwest: 

• Cheapest combination of flights: $320.96
• Most expensive combination of flights: $825.96

Delta:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $238
• Most expensive combination of flights: $1,796

United:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $329
• Most expensive combination of flights: $734

American Airlines: 

• Cheapest combination of flights: $300
• Most expensive combination of flights: $1,149

Spirit:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $247
• Most expensive combination of flights: $436

Chicago O’Hare (ORD)

Southwest:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $274.96
• Most expensive combination of flights: $533.96

Delta:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $258
• Most expensive combination of flights: $2,349

United:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $173
• Most expensive combination of flights: $1,001

American Airlines:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $237
• Most expensive combination of flights: $1,130

Spirit: 

• Cheapest combination of flights: $171
• Most expensive combination of flights: $371

Dallas (Love Field – DAL, or Fort Worth – DFW)

Southwest:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $274.96 from DAL
• Most expensive combination of flights: $714.96 from DAL

Delta:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $268 from DFW
• Most expensive combination of flights: $1,554 from DFW

United: 

• Cheapest combination of flights: $398 from DFW
• Most expensive combination of flights: $1,084 from DFW

American Airlines:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $346 from DFW
• Most expensive combination of flights: $913 from DFW

Spirit:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $205 from DFW
• Most expensive combination of flights: $419 from DFW

Atlanta (ATL)

Southwest: 

• Cheapest combination of flights: $171.96
• Most expensive combination of flights: $456.96

Delta: 

• Cheapest combination of flights: $195
• Most expensive combination of flights: $1,750

United:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $344
• Most expensive combination of flights: $1,011

American Airlines:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $253
• Most expensive combination of flights: $1,121

Spirit:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $117
• Most expensive combination of flights: $379

Denver (DEN)

Southwest:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $392.96
• Most expensive combination of flights: $754.96

Delta:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $267
• Most expensive combination of flights: $1,625

United: 

• Cheapest combination of flights: $256
• Most expensive combination of flights: $876

American Airlines:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $233
• Most expensive combination of flights: $1,035

Spirit:

• Cheapest combination of flights: $281
• Most expensive combination of flights: $304

The Average Cost

When we average the low costs and the high costs, it looks like the average cost to fly to Orlando in February 2023 is around $258.16 on the low end and $957.81 on the high end. Averaging those together it’s around $607.98.

So, how has that changed from what we’ve seen in recent months? Well, the lower-end cost is about $50 more expensive than the prices we saw for January 2023. It is cheaper, however, than the prices we saw in December 2022, November 2022, and October 2022. It’s closer in price to what we saw in September 2022.

When looking at the higher end, the average cost for February 2023 is about $200 more expensive than the prices from January 2023, which is quite the increase. It’s also more expensive than the higher-end costs we saw in December 2022, but cheaper than the higher-end average from November 2022.

Compared to February 2022, the flight costs for February 2023 are about $43 more expensive on the low end and more than $200 more expensive on the high end. Granted, we looked at different dates in February 2022 (February 10th-14th), so that can significantly change things.

Overall though these numbers could indicate some pricier flights in February than what we’ve seen recently.
