Here’s How Thrill Haters can Enjoy Walt Disney World

Although I love Walt Disney World, I hate thrill rides. Between motion sickness and being a total chicken, roller coasters aren’t for me. I have friends and family who can’t believe I would continue to visit Disney parks despite never riding the premier E-ticket attractions.

However, Walt Disney World is so much more than just thrill rides! In fact, I’d be happy to visit Disney World and not go on a single ride. Despite skipping over many of the attractions that many people consider must-dos, I still fill my vacation days easily!

First off, there’s Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Animal Kingdom has many options for thrill haters, and you’ll never find me in line for Expedition Everest. Instead, my favorite way to spend time in this park is to hit up Finding Nemo: The Musical and The Festival of the Lion King. These are two of Disney’s finest stage shows; you shouldn’t leave the park without seeing them!

Then, spend some time roaming through both Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail and the Maharajah Jungle Trek. These two trails are beautifully themed and full of fascinating animals to explore. Other guests sometimes overlook these trails, and you can relax and enjoy them at your own pace.

Shopping is everywhere at Walt Disney World, but if you’re looking for some unique treasures, you need to shop around Epcot’s World Showcase. My absolute favorite store is Mitsukoshi in the Japan Pavilion. It’s an enormous location and features a Pick Your Own Pearl experience, which is currently closed. Here you choose your oyster, and the cast members open it and clean it right in front of you! You can either set the pearl into jewelry or hang onto it as a keepsake. They make a show of the experience, and it’s enjoyable.

The China Pavilion also has a fantastic and large store, with everything from inexpensive trinkets to insanely expensive wares. Stores in France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom pavilions are smaller but often have some intriguing and different options for purchase.

Disney Springs is a can’t miss stop, especially for the thrill-averse. I love visiting some of the unique shops here, plus the catch-all World of Disney store, and the dining is fantastic too! If you have little ones, they can enjoy the Marketplace Carousel and Train or visit the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique location once it reopens. You can go bowling at Splitsville, catch a movie at the AMC theater, and relax while you people watch.

If you stay onsite at Walt Disney World, you will find that your resort has a complete calendar of recreation opportunities. All resorts have pools and offer things like arts and crafts for kids, campfires, and outdoor movies.

Deluxe resorts offer even more activities, including bike rentals, boat rentals, yoga, and more. Check with your specific resort to see what will be provided when you visit! Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is the reigning champion of recreation opportunities, so if you’re staying there, set aside some time to experience what they offer.

One of my favorite things at Walt Disney World is visiting a spa. Take some time out of your packed Disney parks days to relax and recharge with a spa service. Full-service spas can be found at Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and the Swan and Dolphin Resort. Many Deluxe resorts also offer certain spa services, which vary by resort but can include nail services, haircuts, and massage.

The Ship Shape Salon, Spa and Fitness located at the Beach Club Resort is fantastic. Although a moderate resort, Coronado Springs Resort also offers spa services. Contact your specific resort for more information and to reserve your spa service ahead of time.

I hope this gives you and the thrill-haters in your life some ideas on how to spend your Disney vacation less thrillingly but still have a wonderful time.
