I know there aren’t many Disney fans that are overwhelmingly excited for Journey of Water inspired by Moana, but I am. It’s not a thrilling attraction using the newest technology to wow guests, but it is something interactive that the entire family can enjoy. Now hear me out; these are all the reasons why I am excited about this experience.
No More Construction Walls
Navigating the front section of EPCOT has been a mission for the past few years because of all the construction walls. When Creations Shop and Connections Eatery & Cafe opened, it uncovered a much-needed walkway making the walk to World Discovery bearable again. When Journey of Water opens, it will open up the pathways in World Nature, making this area feel less claustrophobic. It will also add something new to do. I know many people will use this as a walkway to get to and from locations in the park, and that’s okay. The opening of the attraction will benefit those excited and those who need a quicker path to get to Soarin’.
It Will be Something New
In my opinion, EPCOT is a park that needs more new experiences. Before Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, the park was starting to feel a little bland, and that is coming from me, someone that loves EPCOT with all their heart. New experiences are always exciting, even if it’s not something groundbreaking. I think this attraction will be a favorite for the younger audience visiting, allowing them to see their favorite characters while interacting with water. Journey of Water will also be a new educational experience that ties into the rest of the park.
The Attraction will be Perfect for Hot Days.
I have a strong feeling that Journey of Water will have many interactive moments that will be able to cool off guests. The summers here seem to be getting hotter each year, so an area dedicated to water sounds refreshing, and hopefully, they pump in extra cold water.
I Love Moana
There might be many Moana fans out there that think she deserves more recognition than this, and believe me, I agree. But to finally have something that represents her fills my heart with joy. I hold this film very close to my heart; I lost my grandmother when I was a junior in high school (2013), and when I saw the movie, it felt like Disney had modeled Moana’s grandma after mine. It felt like I was watching her on the big screen.
This also leads into why I love Happily Ever After so much because they have that moment where her grandmother’s spirit, the stingray, swims up the front of the castle, and it always makes me cry. I also associate mine with water. After all, my wife proposed to me at the beach so I could be near her. So, having an experience inspired by Moana that has to do with the water is a dream come true.
I could go on, but I’ll save that for another time. I am just happy to see something else coming to EPCOT. It may not be an attraction that reminds us of the good old days of the park, but it’s something that will help push it forward. Are any of you excited about this new walk-through attraction coming to EPCOT?
