Since the New Year, we’ve had a LOT of updates not only across Disney World but specifically in Magic Kingdom.
Just the past few days have held a ton of breaking news. From changes to resort parking and more additions to Genie+ to some MASSIVE ride updates, there are a lot of changes in store this year. Let’s take a look and see what’s been going on in Magic Kingdom recently!
Magic Kingdom Food Updates
Sleepy Hollow Refreshments
A new Chilling Chamber Pop has arrived at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in Liberty Square! This new treat features the Mayor from the Stretching Room in The Haunted Mansion.
We liked the chocolate cake inside, and the popping candy was a fun addition! You can get one for $5.49.
Read our review of the new Chilling Chamber Pop here.
Pinocchio Village Haus
This spot, usually known for its flatbread pizzas, came out with a new fried dough treat! The new treats, called Malasadas, are bite-sized fried donuts. It’s inspired by a Portuguese dish, and Disney decided to make it a bit more tropical with the addition of a mango-coconut sauce and a white chocolate “Aloha” coin.
These weren’t exactly what we expected though! The texture was denser than your typical fried dough. If you think these sound right up your alley and you are eager to try something new, you can get a serving for $6.19.

Gaston’s Tavern
We tried out the Minnie Dome Cake at Gaston’s Tavern! This very pretty treat has a cute polka dot pattern as well as Minnie’s iconic ears and bow. Following the Pluto Dome Cake, this was the last in a series featuring all of the Fab Five as dome cakes.
This is a pistachio cake with vanilla citrus mousse covered with a strawberry glaze, so it’s more of an adventurous dessert. There was also a secret layer of strawberry jam not mentioned in the description that we loved! This dome cake is $8.29.

Magic Kingdom Construction Updates
TRON Lightcycle / Run Construction Update
When the Walt Disney World Railroad re-opened we were able to see TRON construction from a whole different perspective! Here you can see how the train enters the tunnel that runs through the TRON site…
…and then take a look inside the tunnel…
…all the way out the other side and under the TRON canopy! We can see more of the track along with what looks like a walkway.
We were also able to snag a few pics from the PeopleMover to see how progress is coming along on the entrance to the ride!
The attraction is really coming together and we can’t wait to see the finished result.
Find out when TRON Lightcycle / Run will open in Magic Kingdom.
Tomorrowland Light and Power Co.
This gift shop has changed a bit recently! The Space Mountain souvenir shop closed a while ago, and we’re seeing some of the updates take shape now. The sign at the top has been covered.
This store is getting updates both on the outside facade and inside the shop. Disney hasn’t announced when it will reopen.
Uptown Jewelry
This store got a bit of a makeover in the form of new carpet!
This new carpeting is in various shades of pink in a detailed pattern that fits the vibe of the store.
Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe
Sonny Eclipse (the alien DJ at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café) is still missing!
We spoke to a Cast Member who said he’s been gone since September during the Halloween season. We hope he comes back soon!
Magic Kingdom Attraction Updates
After Hours Events
Magic Kingdom After Hours events started back up on January 9th! We were there reporting as the fan-favrite event returned.
During these events, you can experience Magic Kingdom and other parks after dark with much smaller crowds and shorter wait times than usual.
It’s a great way to do the parks and fit in more attractions than you would be able to do during the day!
THIS Is Why Magic Kingdom After Hours Are Worth the Money
