*NEW* Three-Meat Meatloaf – $6.50
Served with “Peas and Carrots”: Green Pea Pudding, Carrot Ketchup, Shaved Carrot Salad, and Snap Peas
This is a dense meatloaf. They don’t tell you what three meats are in the meatloaf, though we assume it’s likely beef, pork, and lamb, though veal is also often used in meatloaf. But it didn’t taste right explicitly because there are three different meats in there. It’s super finely ground. It’s a weird texture and different from meatloaf than we’re used to.
Still, it comes in a decently sized portion. It’s accompanied by a solid solid scalloped potato (which wasn’t listed on the menu) , which compliments the meatloaf well.
Meanwhile, the pea pudding isn’t good at all. It’s almost sour and off putting. Skip this.
*NEW* Duck and Dumplings: – $7.00
Smoked Duck Breast, Ricotta Dumplings, Petite Vegetables, and Duck Jus
The duck is super greasy. The taste reminds us of poorly prepared Chinese food.
The dumplings are very dense. The ricotta is slightly congealed and not very good. It’s not terrible, but we wouldn’t recommend this.
*NEW* Hummingbird Cake – $4.75
Banana Cake with Pineapple, Coconut, Pecans, and Cream Cheese Frosting with Banana Sorbet
Everything put together is really good. You can really taste each ingredient.
They come in waves: banana, pineapple, and coconut, and you also get the cream cheese in the middle.
The banana sorbet it’s served with is fantastic. It’s basically just puréed bananas, but it works so well. We loved it!
Sipping Chocolate Flight – $9.00
Featuring White, Milk and Dark Chocolates
This trio of drinking chocolate is unbelievably rich in flavor and so much so that it felt like we were drinking chocolate syrup out of the bottle. While we’ve enjoyed versions of these drinks from Amorette’s Patisserie and Ghirardelli, we didn’t think that these were nearly as good. The portion sizes are large enough to share between 2-3 people (simply because we can’t imagine that anyone could possibly have more than a few sips of such a thick and rich chocolate flavor).
*NEW* Boulevard Brewing Co. Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale, Kansas City, MO (8.5% ABV) – $5.50 for 6 oz., $9.50 for 12 oz.
From Boulevard Brewing Co.: “Step right up and gaze into the 8.5% wonder of the world, Tank 7 American Saison. Marvel at our distinctly American twist on a classic Belgian-style: unveiling a surge of fruity aromatics and subtle spice, mysteriously mingling with big grapefruit hoppy notes, and cloaked in elegant effervescence. Tank 7 is a perfect paradox – simultaneously world-class-worthy and crafted for everyday – and curiously capable of transporting its drinker with just one sip. Whether it’s VIP or BYOB, five stars or dive bars…Tank 7 takes you there.”
*NEW* Parish Brewing Co. South Coast Session Amber Ale, Broussard, LA (5.0% ABV) – $5.50 for 6 oz., $9.50 for 12 oz.
From Parish Brewing Co.: “South Coast is smooth, clean, delicately hoppy and malty; a medium-bodied Amber Ale perfect on the beach or after mowing the lawn. Evenly balanced between noble hops and bready malts, South Coast isn’t too strong or too rich to prohibit consuming several in a session.”
*NEW* Brewery Ommegang Three Philosophers Belgian Quad, Cooperstown, NY (9.7% ABV) – $5.50 for 6 oz., $9.50 for 12 oz.
From Brewery Ommegang: “Rich and complex, this tour de force is a glorious blend of elegant Belgian-style quadruple ale and authentic Belgian kriek, its malty depth and gentle sweetness enhanced by sparkling carbonation and a serendipitous touch of cherry. Pouring a mysterious chestnut brown, Three Philosophers is the perfect beer for leisurely sipping and quiet contemplation. The meaning of life? Even if you don’t quite get there, this beer is sure to sweeten the journey.”
Lange Estate Winery Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, OR ($30/bottle) – $7.50
Total Wine & More describes this as “a very attractively floral edge to this pinot with an edge of cassis and blueberries, leading to a palate that has a very supple and attractively fresh and crunchy, dark-berry and plum finish.”
Symphony in Chocolate Flight: Mozart Cream Liqueurs paired with Sipping Chocolates – $13.50
One of the more interesting offerings is this flight of hot, alcoholic sipping chocolates. Despite its heavy liquor taste, the white chocolate seems to be the one that works the best. The others just felt very heavy and with no reward in flavor. While Festival of the Arts runs in January and February, we get some warm days in Orlando at this time. A hot, heavy chocolate drink like this isn’t what you want when it’s above 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
