Which Disney World Deal Is Better — The New Dining Promo Card or a Room-Only Discount?

Despite price increases happening a little too often for our liking, there are still ways to save on your Disney World vacation.

Cinderella Castle

In fact, Disney just announced quite a few deals and perks that might encourage you to plan a trip. A new Dining Card Promo was revealed that provides guests with money to spend at select Disney World restaurants when booking a hotel and tickets together in a package. Not only that, but there are room discounts available for Florida Residents, Annual Passholders, and regular resort guests. With all these options, you might be wondering which is best for you — so we’re going to break it down!

Dining Promo Card

The new Dining Promo Card is basically a gift card that you can use at select Disney World restaurants. If you have a qualifying Disney hotel reservation, you’ll receive the promo card in your email once you check into your reservation. The card’s value depends on your vacation arrival date, how long you’re staying at the hotel, and which hotel you choose.

Dining in Disney World

You must book at least a 4-night stay, and you get one gift card per ROOM, not per person. According to the Disney World website, the offer is good for up to a $750 Dining Promo Card, but we now know that you can actually earn MORE. Right now, the offer is valid on select nights from June 25th through September 14th — so we’ll only be comparing room-only deals that fall within the same dates.

Deluxe Resorts

You’ll find the MOST value with the Dining Card Promo at Deluxe Resorts, where you can receive up to $750 per stay. Guests will receive $125 per night if their arrival date falls between June 25th and June 30th or July 11th and the 31st…

Disney’s Grand Floridian

…and $150 per night if the arrival date falls between July 1st and the 10th or August 1st and September 14th.

Moderate Resorts

At Disney’s Moderate Resorts, you can receive $75 per night if your arrival date falls between June 25th and June 30th or July 11th and the 31st…

Coronado Springs

…and $100 per night if your arrival date falls between July 1st and the 10th or August 1st and September 14th.

Value Resorts

Finally, at the Value Resorts, you can get $35 per night if your arrival date is between June 25th and June 30th or July 11th and the 31st…

Pop Century Resort

…and $50 per night if your arrival date is between July 1st and the 10th or August 1st and September 14th.

Art of Animation

For example, let’s say you booked a 5-night stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge (a Deluxe Resort) starting on June 25th — you could be looking at $625 to spend on FOOD in Disney World!

Annual Passholders

This one is kind of a no-brainer, since the Dining Promo Card only applies to bookings that include both hotel stay and park tickets. Since Annual Passholders don’t need park tickets (unless they’re going on a blackout date), the hotel room discount obviously makes the most sense.

Old Key West Resort

Why pay for park tickets when you technically already have them? Plus you can save up to 30% on your Disney World hotel stay depending on what type of resort you select!

Which Is Best?

We took a look at the Dining Card Promo vs. the regular resort guest discount to give you an idea of what might be better for your trip. We based our search on a family of two adults and two kids traveling from July 1st to July 5th, 2023 — a total of five nights. Keep in mind, this is just an example and the actual savings you’re able to receive might vary!

Cinderella Castle

For this example, let’s say you decided to stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Based on a five-night stay, with the Dining Card Promo, you’d receive a total of $750 to spend towards Disney food. Resort guests can save 25% per night at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge with the summer deal we mentioned above, though. From July 1st through 10th, that shakes out to an average savings of $220 per night — for a total of $1,100 saved overall. But, keep in mind this discount is for a room only and you would have to still purchase park tickets!

Animal Kingdom Lodge

If you decided to stay at a Moderate Resort like Disney’s Port Orleans — French Quarter, you could receive $500 for a five night stay to spend on all those delicious Disney eats. But, you’ll also find up to 20% off on rooms at this hotel on the same dates, which comes out to an average of $67 per night. That’s $335 in savings for this stay that you could spend on snacks, merch, or whatever your heart desires!

Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter

Finally, you can also find savings at Value Resorts like Pop Century! With the Dining Card Promo, you can receive $50 per night, or $250 total for a five-night stay. But, you can also save 10% on your whole stay here. That’s $42 per night on average or a total savings of $210.

Pop Century Resort

When it comes to deciding which deal is right for you, there are multiple factors to consider. How many days are you spending on your trip, and where are you staying? How many people are coming with you? Are you Florida Residents or Passholders? Once you’ve got all that figured out, you’ll be well on your way to saving money on your next Disney World trip.
