While we keep seeing more and more of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway ahead of its opening tomorrow, Disney is really getting into the little details with their latest sneak peek, showing off props themed to concessions with nods to Imagineers and animators!
In the queue line within the El CapiTOON Theatre, there’s of course a concession stand for the Toons to purchase a bite before their movie. And if you look very close, you can catch some special details which nod to the Imagineers who worked on the project.
First up, Mallard Cups are made by “E+A Schwartz Schweetz”, a nod to Jennifer Schwartz, Lead Concept Designer at Walt Disney Imagineering, whose kids’ names start with E and A.
Gummi Bears are “juiced by Lomboy” for Jeanette Lomboy, Site Portfolio Executive at Walt Disney Imagineering. This is of course also a nod to the classic 1980s Disney Afternoon series “Adventures of the Gummi Bears.”
Laugh-O-grahams are “manufactured by Sweet Fridays” in Kansas City, where Walt Disney famously lived for part of his childhood, and where he started Laugh-O-Gram in 1921, the predecessor to The Walt Disney Company. “Sweet Fridays” is an homage to Jonathan Friday, Senior Creative Director at Walt Disney Imagineering.
Witch Hazel Nut Candy is produced “by Luna Belle Treats”. Not to be confused with Duffy’s friend LinaBell, Luna Belle is the dog of a former Imagineer who worked on the attraction. Witch Hazel is also a recurring witch character in classic Disney cartoons.
Golly Pops are made by “Flower Street Treats”, and Flower Street is the street in Glendale, California where the Walt Disney Imagineering offices reside.
Power Limes are made by the “Bowling Allie Candy Co.” The “Bowling Alley” is the name of a building on the Walt Disney Imagineering campus in California and was the work location of graphic designer Allie Wong. It’s of course also a nod to Powerline, the pop singer from “A Goofy Movie.”
McDuck’s Chocolate Coins are created by “Ben & Hudson’s Candy Kitchen.” Ben and Hudson are the sons of Jeff Shaver-Moskowitz, Executive Producer of the attraction.
And finally, Polka Dots candy made by “Wowza Bouza Candy” is in honor of Walt Disney Imagineering President, Barbara Bouza. The candies are in the shape of Minnie’s bows.
All of these details and so many more are visible in the queue of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which opens tomorrow in Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland. We have a look at so many of the easter eggs in the attraction, including the special “Mickey Through the ‘Ears” exhibit, fun parody film posters themed to the characters of Toontown, where to spot the Hidden Mickey popcorn, and more! And of course stay tuned to Disneyland News Today for the grand opening tomorrow along with everything else new coming to the Disney100 celebration around the Disneyland Resort!
