Do Disney’s Special Menus Fairly Cater to Food Allergies?

If you saw some delicious treats that Erica showed us earlier in the week for Valentine’s Day at the Walt Disney World Resort, I would be interested to hear your thoughts on a question that I noticed pop up on social media. Scrolling through the comments of the Disney Parks Instagram post, I came across a poster, tempestempest, who commented that the special menu items didn’t cater well to food intolerances and allergies. Admittedly, it’s not something I’ve ever thought much about, as the only allergy in my family is whole nuts, which aren’t often included in special menus anyway. However, the whole idea got me thinking, and I went back through some of our other ‘special event’ menu lists to notice that the poster was correct; not many of them had any options for dairy or gluten-free guests to enjoy.

To some degree, I think many of us have become a little glazed over when it comes to food intolerances; these days, it seems like every second person has a list of ingredients they are avoiding by choice. Though that isn’t the case for many who aren’t trying to limit their options by choice, they have unwanted food allergies that can’t be deviated from. So, I thought we might open it up to the DIS community and see what you think.
