All the BIG Construction CHANGES You Missed This Week in Disney World

If there’s one thing you can always count on in Disney World, it’s that change is inevitable.

EPCOT Festival of the Arts

And if there’s one thing you can count on DFB for, it’s that we’ll bring you the latest updates, changes, and news you need to know about for your Disney World trip. So, let’s take a look at some of the biggest construction updates you missed in Disney World this week!

Magic Kingdom

TRON: Lightcycle / Run

We’re getting closer and closer to the opening of TRON Lightcycle / Run in Disney World, and we’ve been waiting on every update we can get in the meantime! We’ve seen the ride’s marquee be installed, the canopy fully powered up, and now we’re ready to ride.

TRON Construction

TRON Lightcycle / Run will be opening in Magic Kingdom on April 4th, 2023, and we’ll be there to check it all out — so stay tuned for more!

Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.

Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. has been closed so Disney can give it a bit of a refresh while TRON is being built! From the outside, we’ve seen some repainting and refinishing, but the jury is still out on when this spot might reopen.

Will this be the future home of all things TRON merch? Only time will tell!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Splash Mountain has officially CLOSED in Disney World and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is currently under construction!

It’s started!

This historic transformation will be going on for quite a while, so if you missed your chance to ride Splash Mountain before it closed, you’re unfortunately out of luck. So far, we’ve seen walls go up with signs for Tiana’s Foods.

Tiana’s Foods

We can’t wait to see what other exciting changes are coming with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, so stay tuned for more.

EPCOT

CommuniCore Hall & Plaza

Things are looking…chaotic over in the middle of EPCOT right now. CommuniCore Hall & Plaza will be the new home for all things EPCOT festivals. Shows? Check. Events? Check.

CommuniCore Hall and Plaza

Right now, we’ve been seeing construction go vertical over at CommuniCore Hall, but crews have been clearing more space for construction to begin on the plaza.

Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana

Um, hello large TREES that have moved into the Moana attraction construction zone! This entire area was empty at one point, and not only have we seen more of the attraction pop up, but now Disney has planted some rather mature looking trees.

Journey of Water

Hopefully, this will help add some much needed shade to the center of EPCOT once this attraction is open!

Hollywood Studios

Roundup Rodeo BBQ

Roundup Rodeo BBQ is opening at the end of next month — March 23rd to be exact — and we can’t wait to dine on the delicious barbecue this table service spot will serve up.

Roundup Rodeo BBQ

Disney has been putting some finishing touches and accents on the exterior of the building, and we’re looking forward to finally seeing the inside for ourselves. You know we’ll be at the restaurant’s opening day, so stay tuned for our FULL review!

Disney Springs

Summer House on the Lake

Another new restaurant is coming to Disney, this time over at Disney Springs. Summer House on the Lake is set to open sometime this year, and will be a new table service spot.

Summer House construction

There are currently two other Summer House on the Lake locations, and we actually visited the one in Chicago to see what the Disney Springs location might be like. You can read our full review below!

Disney Resort Hotels

Polynesian Village Resort

What once was a giant pile of dirt now has some structure to it! It looks like crews have started laying down concrete framing for the future home of the new Polynesian Resort DVC tower. This new location will be home to restaurants, shops, and of course — guest rooms. For now, we’ll just have to be content with our ride-bys on the monorail!
