After closing for refurbishment in early January, the Lava Pool waterslide at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has reopened.
The Lava Pool at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort features a towering volcano, a waterfall, and zero-depth entry, but its biggest draw is the 142-foot waterslide. While the slide was refurbished, the rest of the pool remained open.
The bridge that crosses over the bottom of the slide was also refurbished.
The netting that stretches between bamboo-inspired poles was replaced.
The metal railings may also have been replaced.
Similarly, the netting at the top of the waterslide, where guests line up to go down, was replaced.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been undergoing a refurbishment and reimagining over the past few years, with a new Monorail station, updated Disney Vacation Club deluxe studios, “Moana”-themed rooms, and updated main entrance. The Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area was also repainted and refreshed. New rugs were recently placed in the Great Ceremonial House.
Right now, a new Disney Vacation Club wing is under construction where the Spirit of Aloha dinner show used to be. The show never reopened following the March 2020 closure due to COVID-19.
