‘Toy Story 5’, ‘Frozen 3’ and ‘Zootopia 2’ Announced During Earnings Call

In Wednesday’s quarterly earnings call, Bob Iger announced that sequels were coming for three popular Disney Animation franchises, Zootopia, Toy Story, and Frozen.

Obviously, Toy Story has been uber-popular since the moment the first film came out in 1995. When Toy Story 4 came out in 2019, it did incredibly well, and fans have been chomping at the bit for more. Toy Story 5 is a definite surprise after Toy Story 4 seemingly ended the saga and Lightyear underperformed in 2022. However, the toys have made over 3.3 billion dollars worldwide, and it’s a no-brainer to continue. My mind is going crazy with thoughts on where the story could lead from here, but I am confident that when Toy Story 5 hits theaters, we’ll all be there to watch!

We already know that Disney is bringing a Zootopia-themed land to Shanghai Disneyland, and the continuation of that story with a sequel is exciting! Zootopia was released in 2016 and made over a billion dollars and won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Zootopia recently had a revival on Disney+ with the Zootopia+ shorts.

Frozen 3 is coming! Who would have guessed that we’d be hearing about a third film in the Frozen franchise when the second one just came out a mere 3 years ago? Frozen 2 was released in 2019 and made 1.45 billion dollars. That is probably the most surprising to me, but Bob Iger did mention during Wednesday’s earnings call that he spoke to Josh D’Amaro just today about planning new attractions and lands based on the company’s most popular franchises.

It’s an exciting time to be a Disney fan!
