Swing by the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen at Universal CityWalk Orlando this Mardi Gras season to pick up the “Masquerade Milkshake.”
To take the shake on the go, you can pick it up at the quick-service counter in Toothsome.
Masquerade Milkshake – $16.00
Ube ice cream, matcha cream pop tart, chocolate mask, whip topping, mardi gras sprinkles
If you just can’t get enough Ube ice cream from the Japan booth at Mardi Gras (or you’re craving Ube ice cream after the park is closed), the Toothsome chocolate emporium has a new Masquerade shake that will satisfy your craving.
The Ube ice cream makes up the base of the shake, which is different than the Ube/Nutella mix last year. It tastes a lot different than the one last year, and even different than the Ube ice cream served in the bubble waffle. It’s a much heartier, almost earthy taste with a lot of qualities of a malt, but this isn’t as sweet as the previous Ube ice cream treats we’ve encountered.
It pairs well with the whipped topping and chocolate pearls and white chocolate mask.
The matcha pop tart sounds exciting but it was really disappointing. It was just a lot of flaky pastry dough with almost no filling. There was maybe a little spot of filling but you couldn’t taste it behind all the bland pastry.
The pastry was good, but without a filling, it’s just too dry.
Overall, I would prefer last year’s combo with Nutella or the waffle on the park, but if you’re not visiting the parks, this is a good way to experience Ube ice cream.
