Spicy Hot Dog with Pineapple Chutney and Plantain Chips – $8.00
Perhaps one of our (definitely Tom’s) favorite returning items is the spicy hot dog. You receive a full hot dog for your money, slathered in pineapple chutney and crumbled plantain chips. The hot dog delivers on flavor and spice. Each bite has a pop against the perfectly cooked exterior leading to a wonderfully spicy interior. The chutney adds a cool pineapple flavor and the chips add a nice crunch. It’s a filling dish and best shared if you plan on enjoying the rest the festival has to offer.
Frozen Desert Violet Lemonade (Non-Alcoholic) – $4.50
A slush so iconic they had to make Minnie ears to match them. We can proudly say that the admiration is much deserved. The Violet Lemonade slush is sweet, refreshing, and takes a nice picture.
DOLE Whip® with Fanta® (Non-Alcoholic) – $6.25
Pineapple Fanta fills the bottom of this cup. The pineapple Dole Whip mixed with the soda works very well and surprisingly isn’t overpowering. The only problem you’re going to run into with Flower & Garden is A) the portion of Dole Whip and B) how icy it comes out, to the point of almost being flavorless. Typically the version at Magic Kingdom is very light and airy, this comes out stiff and dense. It’s still the only place to get the soft serve in Epcot, so if you feel the price is worth saving a trip to Polynesian Village or Magic Kingdom…
3 Daughters Brewing Tropical Hefe Wheat Ale, St. Petersburg, FL (4.6% ABV) – $5.50 for 6 oz. $9.50 for 12 oz.
From 3 Daughers Brewing: “Tropical haze takes center stage in our fruit-forward hefeweizen. As notes of coconut and banana play alongside juicy mango and pineapple flavor, every sip of this hazy wheat ale sends you straight to the tropics.”
*NEW* BrewDog Hazy Jane IPA, Canal Winchester, OH (7.2% ABV) – $5.50 for 6 oz. $9.50 for 12 oz.
From BrewDog: “New England detuned. This full-tilt fruit machine of an IPA packs all the flavor but less of the alcohol. Notes of pineapple, mango, stone-fruit, and a hint of tangerine to mix it up. Brewed with oats and wheat and left unfiltered for a smooth juicy hit.”
*NEW* Urban Artifact Teak Tropical American Fruit Tart, Cincinnati, OH (7.2% ABV) – $5.50 for 6 oz. $9.50 for 12 oz.
Urban Artifact notes that this fruit tart is brewed with pineapple, pink guava, and key lime, along with this cryptic note: “a potion bubbles lazily as Teak the Yellow pours over dust-covered tomes of cantrips and ancient histories. Enchanted tropical fruits swirl around as the spell is complete. Conjure bold flavors with a Teak.”
Playalinda Brewing Company Violet Lemonade Ale, Titusville, FL (5.2% ABV) – $5.50 for 6 oz. $9.50 for 12 oz. for 12 oz.
From Walter P. on Untappd: “Tastes like flowers. A little tart from the lemonade, but light and easy drinking.”
Florida Orange Groves Winery Sparkling Pineapple Wine, St. Petersburg, FL ($30/bottle) – $12.00 for a glass, $32.00 for the bottle
From Florida Orange Groves Winery: “Our sparkling Pineapple wine offers you and your palate a crisp and refreshing taste of Florida in a bottle. Made from 100% pineapple juice you won’t need to imagine hints of flavors or finishing notes.”
DOLE Whip® topped with Sōmrus Mango Cream Liqueur ($29/bottle) – $12.00
This was quite refreshing. It tasted too strongly like pineapple and the mango liqueur was only at the very very bottom. It was still good, but we got more of a pineapple taste than we did the liqueur.
