A WARNING About This Spring Break Week at Disney World

There are very few “slow” periods at Disney World anymore. It seems the parks always feel crowded, and the hotels stay booked!

The week of Christmas is often the very busiest in Disney World!

But there are crowded weeks, and then there are CROWDED WEEKS. IYKYK.

With the exception of a holiday long weekend or two, we’ve been buzzing along through the first part of the year with lowercase crowds, especially on weekdays. The kids have been in school, people are back at work after holiday travel … but, we’re here to warn you that Spring Break is coming.

The EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival is underway!

Now Spring Break crowds can be a bit hard to predict. Some schools hold their Spring Break around Easter, so it moves around quite a bit with the holiday. Other schools have a set week — like the second or third week of March — for their break. In general, spring break crowds happen from that second week of March until the week after Easter, whenever that may be.

But we’ve got a pretty good predictor of when Disney expects the Spring Break crowds to be at their peak in Disney World, and we’re here with a warning that you might want to avoid two particular weeks — April 2nd-8th, and April 9th-15th.

How do we know those weeks are going to be the busiest? Well, some of the tiers of annual passes for Disney World include “block-out dates.” Those are dates when you cannot use that annual pass for park admission. Disney sets the block-out dates from year to year, based on the crowds it expects — when the most people are expected to be at Disney World, those annual passholders are “blocked out” to make more room (and to sell more higher-priced tickets).

For 2023, most of the dates for the first two weeks of April are blocked out for those APs. So, if you’re planning a last-minute spring trip to Disney World, you may want to look at a time in March, or the last two weeks of April, rather than the first half of the month!
