Southwest Is Expanding Nonstop Routes to the Orlando Airport!

Many Walt Disney World guests arrive for their visit by plane, which means boarding that plane is when the vacation really begins!

A Magical Flight

The Orlando International Airport is a very popular destination for people heading to Disney World, Universal Studios, and other Central Florida attractions. In fact, it was recently announced that this airport is expanding to meet high customer demand. With the Brightline train opening this summer, which will connect Orlando to Miami, and more airlines adding flights to Orlando, it seems that the airport is just continuing to grow. Now, even more routes are on the way!

Just last month, Southwest Airlines added a new nonstop route from El Paso, TX, to Orlando. Now, Southwest is expanding another weekly nonstop service, this time from Syracuse Airport in New York. On March 9th, Syracuse Airport announced via Twitter the new flight options.

The airport announced that Southwest will be “expanding their year-round weekly nonstop service from SYR directly to Orlando to daily service on a seasonal basis.” According to the Syracuse Hancock International Airport’s press release, you will have to wait until October 5th for this service to begin. Southwest has had a few bumps in the road after its holiday fiasco but since has said they are committed to fixing the issues that caused it, and we’ve seen far fewer delays since then.

Southwest and other airlines are continuing to offer more direct routes to Orlando International Airport. We may even see more in the future. For more travel news, follow DFB!
