YouTube channel OneLittleSpark shared a live-streamed video of “Happily Ever After” fireworks testing at Magic Kingdom last night. Jessica and Luis of OneLittleSpark viewed the testing from Disney’s Contemporary Resort and synced up audio from the previous version of the show.
The testing begins at about 2 hours and 25 minutes in the video below when the lights of Magic Kingdom dimmed. Before launching fireworks, Disney played clips of the “Happily Ever After” chorus to test the audio. This can just barely be heard from the resort (with Jessica helpfully singing along).
The full show with fireworks begins testing at about 2 hours and 29 minutes into the video. Although Disney implied the show would be significantly updated, nothing seems different apart from the new projections on Main Street, U.S.A.
“Happily Ever After” will officially return on April 3. Watch the full test below.
“Disney Enchantment” replaced “Happily Ever After” on October 1, 2021, for The World’s Most Magical Celebration. However, some guests expressed disappointment after a lack of archival footage and references to the park’s opening 50 years ago.
Eventually, an updated version of “Disney Enchantment” debuted on August 22, 2022, with a new opening sequence featuring Walt Disney, Roy Disney, Mickey Mouse, and classic park attractions.
In February 2022, Disney sent out a survey to some guests asking them about their experience of “Disney Enchantment.” One question asked, “How would you rate your overall experience with Disney Enchantment compared to your overall experience with Happily Ever After? Would you say that Disney Enchantment was…” The options were “Better,” “About the same,” and “Worse.”
Jordan Fisher, singer of “Happily Ever After,” advocated for the return of “Happily Ever After” to Magic Kingdom, tagging Walt Disney World in a Tweet last summer to ask, “Is ‘Happily Ever After’ gonna come back at some point? Like… Shouldn’t it come back?”
“Happily Ever After” is a fireworks and projection mapping show that premiered at the Magic Kingdom on May 12, 2017. The announcement that it would replace the popular “Wishes: A Magical Gathering of Disney Dreams” caused some disappointment among Disney fans. The theme song, which was adapted from Hong Kong Disneyland’s 10th anniversary celebration and “Mickey’s Storybook Adventure” from Shanghai Disneyland, was performed by Angie Keilhauer and Jordan Fisher.
