Rolly Crump was an animator who turned into one of the most important designers of the Disneyland theme park. Earlier this week, he died at 93.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Rolly Crump had been on hospice care when he died Sunday in his Carlsbad home. Crump was an animator-turned-designer who played a big role in the creation of Disneyland. After an unusual start with the company being labeled an oddball, Crump “would go on to become one of the most important artists to work for the Walt Disney Co.”

As an Imagineer, Crump helped create some of the classic Disney rides we know and love — “it’s a small world,” the Enchanted Tiki Room, and the Haunted Mansion were all majorly influenced by his choices. His creative eye is even what gave us such an imaginative bar in the Disneyland Hotel’s Trader Sam’s.
