VIDEO: Pirates of the Caribbean Cast Members Reenact Ride With Guests During Unexpected Downtime

Pirates of the Caribbean has experienced extended closures this week, but Cast Members were quick to turn unexpected downtime into magical moments for guests hoping to visit their Adventureland attraction.

In a video shared by TikTok user @strawberrys_and_makeup, Pirates of the Caribbean Cast Members can be seen fulfilling their usual duties in a unique way as guests boarded a taped-down pirate ship during unexpected downtime of the attraction.

Pirates of the Caribbean was down due to technical difficulties so I decided to hang out with the crew and ride the less seen but obviously way better version of the pirates of the Caribbean! #vacation #piratesofthecaribbean #disney #magickingdom #fyp #disneyworld

Very energetic cast members stood in for the roles of Pirates of the Caribbean Audio-Animatronics, reenacting the entire ride while reading through the attraction’s script. Other members of the crew provided the sound effects for guests aboard the “ship.” These dedicated pirates even serenaded guests with the attraction’s anthem, “Yo Ho, Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me).”

During yesterday afternoon’s downtime, Pirates of the Caribbean Cast Members were back at it with a high-energy dramatic read-through version of the attraction’s script. In a video shared with WDWNT, guests can be seen crowding around as they are immersed in the unique experience.

The MyDisneyExperience app may have told guests that Pirates of the Caribbean was down, but there was no shortage of entertainment outside of the Adventureland attraction. In the clip above, energetic and devoted Cast Members can all be seen reimagining their attraction with a show of their own.

Young guests can be seen sitting on the ground, captivated by the dramatic performance of the Pirates of the Caribbean performance. The ride vehicle has been recreated with tape on the ground to offer an imaginative sailing past the Dead Man’s Cove, but it was an entire team of Cast Members that channeled the magic of Pirates of the Caribbean for these guests.

Walt Disney World’s Pirates of the Caribbean attraction went down around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon and remained down through Monday, with the exception of a brief half-hour window early on. The ride reopened Tuesday morning.

Walt Disney once said, “You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world, but it takes people to make the dream a reality.” There is no doubt that the talented Cast Members behind Pirates of the Caribbean embody Walt Disney’s vision for a team that is just as magical for guests as the attractions, themselves.

Magic Kingdom’s dedicated and passionate Cast Members are known for making the best out of a less-than-ideal scenario. Last year, Jungle Cruise skippers also reenacted their ride during downtime, similarly delivering a magical experience to Walt Disney World guests.

There is no official word on the cause of the unexpected downtime at Pirates of the Caribbean or when the attraction is expected to overcome the series of extended closures that have been occurring as of late. Scrim installed in the courtyard outside of the attraction suggests that perhaps Pirates of the Caribbean, or at least this area used as an overflow queue, is on the cusp of a refurbishment, but nothing has been announced.
