Health officials are shocked by an abrupt turnaround in the CDC’s guidelines for COVID-19 testing. And Disney Chairman Bob Iger is “horrified” by the change.
The United States Centers for Disease Control changed their testing policy to note that asymptomatic people may not need to be tested, even if they’ve come into contact with an infected individual. ABC reports that health experts are surprised by this decision and are pushing back on the CDC’s guidelines, maintaining that asymptomatic young people are a significant vector for passing the virus to others at this time.
Disney Chairman Bob Iger personally weighed in on twitter last night with his thoughts on the updated CDC recommendations.
This is more than disappointing. It is horrifying. https://t.co/woLIQBepy7

Walt Disney World has maintained strict health and safety protocol during their phased reopening, beginning in May with Disney Springs and select hotels, and continuing in July with all four theme parks. The company has also opened a COVID-19 testing facility on property, and come to an agreement with the Actor’s Equity Association providing testing for actors in exchange for their return to work in Disney World.
