In the future Illumination Avenue at Universal Studios Florida, the Villain-Con Minion Blast marquee sign has been completed, and one wall of Transformers: The Ride has been painted bright blue.
Villain-Con Minion Blast
Villain-Con Minion Blast is the second Minion-related ride for Universal Studios Florida, across from Despicable Me Minion Mayhem. It replaces Shrek 4-D, which closed in January 2022.
Crews have been adding the orange letters of “Villain-Con” to the new attraction’s entrance. Just yesterday, the letters were covered with black tarps.
Today, the bright orange “Villain-Con” letters were unveiled, thus completing the attraction’s marquee sign.
While most of the soundstage has remained yellow, the overhang around the bottom of the building is now bright orange with black trim.
Orange has been used for other Villain-Con theming, mainly the marquee lettering and banners.
The yellow sides of the building were repainted early on in construction.
Small lights are on the overhang, pointing down at posters.
The “Evil Stuff” sign was recently installed, pointing to the attraction’s store. It’s directly across from Despicable Me Minion Mayhem’s Super Silly Stuff store.
Villain-Con Minion Blast will anchor the new Illumination Avenue, which takes over a significant portion of Production Central.
Giant billboard posters of villains were added on the side of the building facing Transformers: The Ride.
Back at the entrance to Villain-Con Minion Blast, we could just barely see inside.
Orange and purple banners hang past the entrance signage.
Minion Café
Across the alleyway is Minion Café, still surrounded by scaffolding and blue scrim.
Through the scrim, we could see weather-proof paneling on the outside of the building.
Crew members have been working on the roof.
Minion Café replaces Monsters Café. A large steel structure has been added to the building at the entrance.
Some brown paneling peeks out at this corner of the building.
Minion Café will presumably have similar theming to the Minion Café at Universal Studios Hollywood. Read our first review of Hollywood’s Minion Café.
Transformers: The Ride Show Building
The wall of the Transformers: The Ride building right behind Minion Café has been completely painted teal blue.
This is apparently to better match the future Minion Café, but it looks jarring right now.
We first noticed blue stripes on the building last week.
The Transformers-related symbols have been painted over.
The job isn’t quite finished — we saw this gray smudge.
