Does Disney know how to do cute characters or what?

Those characters are EVEN cuter when they’re babies, though (really, what is CUTER than an animated Disney baby)? But which one is the cutest? Well, we’re pitting these adorable kiddos against each other to see which one is the best to those that are still cute. 

So maybe it’s a LITTLE mean to make cute characters go up against each other, but we spend a lot of time THINKING about these things, and we bet you do, too! So here’s our completely 100% UN-scientific list of how we rank the Disney baby characters.

Baby Dory

Okay, so our #1 cutest and BEST baby character right off the bat is going to HAVE to be Baby Dory. Those big bright eyes and that personality? We can’t even! Like we get the FEELS when Baby Dory gets lost in Finding Dory and she can’t remember where her parents are. OUR HEART.

Just keep swimming, little Baby Dory. Just keep swimming.

Baby Yoda

Okay, so here’s the thing about Baby Yoda, whose real name is Grogu, but he’s going to be Baby Yoda to us FOREVER. Baby Yoda has somehow literally captured the hearts of SO many Star Wars fans, including us. That, and his relationship with Din Djarin, the Mandalorian, is just everything that sweet baby dreams are made of.

So yep, we’re putting Baby Yoda high up on our list because we love him. Also, DID YOU SEE THAT EPISODE OF MANDALORIAN where he remembers the traumatic experience of escaping the Jedi Academy during Order 66? NOBODY better hurt our little Grogu buddy. NOBODY.

Baby Lady

When we get to see Lady as a puppy in The Lady and the Tramp is pretty much any dog lover’s dream. She’s just so sweet, even if she does howl all night and keeps her new owners up (poor baby). How she pops up out of that hat box? SO sweet.

Did you know that Lady was inspired by a real dog named Lady? Disney writer Joe Grant showed some sketches he’d done of his Springer Spaniel to Walt Disney himself, and the rest is history.

Baby Groot

We’ll admit we freaked OUT when we thought we’d lost Groot forever. But then we got BABY Groot, and that was even better. Baby Groot is the BEST of all the Groots (don’t @ us) because he’s just TOO cute, especially in the series of shorts you can watch about him on Disney+.

Bonus points to Baby Groot because he knows how to GROOVE out to some good music.

Baby Simba

If you have a cat at home, we would bet that you’ve probably recreated the first scene in The Lion King when Baby Simba is lifted by Rafiki on top of Pride Rock to be presented to his father’s kingdom (you know, everywhere the light touches and then some). It was cute in the animated movie…

But it was also cute in the live-action movie. Maybe even CUTER!

We especially love the sense of cluelessness that Baby Simba seems to have over the whole ceremony. Oh, my stars!

Baby Tod and Baby Copper

So we’re going to have to say the next two Disney babies, Tod and Copper on our list are at a tie because it was their friendship in The Fox and the Hound that makes them both so completely adorable. Poor Baby Tod, the fox, is left abandoned after hunters shoot his mother. Copper is the cute little puppy who belongs to a hunter. The two become fast friends, even when they should be mortal enemies. IS THAT THE SWEETEST THING OR WHAT?

Also, we are trying NOT to think about the end of this movie, as it traumatized us as kids. If you DO watch this movie, be sure to have PLENTY of tissues handy — trust us on this one.

Baby Pegasus

If you thought a horse with wings was cute, well, a BABY horse with wings is even cuter (that’s our logic, at least). So we adore Baby Pegasus, who just happens to grow up with Baby Hercules (we’ll get to him later). In the meantime, just look at the cuteness.

This is why we’ll squeal with delight anytime we spot Baby Pegasus merchandise in Disney World.

Baby Dumbo

Dumbo is one of those movies that just makes us not like humans very much (they are SO MEAN in this movie). Baby Dumbo is PRECIOUS, but everyone made fun of him because of his big ears and his name was meant as an insult.

However, Dumbo ends up becoming the STAR of the show and shows us all that you should never make fun of those who are different because what makes them different also makes them special.

Baby Bambi

Sweet little Bambi — when he was born, who knew what kind of hardships he would face? He was such an innocent doe-eyed (yes, pun intended) creature, and he loved his mama so VERY much. AWWWW!

Of course, knowing what happens just breaks our hearts, so we’ll try to remember him as he was BEFORE all that.

Baby Moana

Yes, the human babies made it to the bottom of our list, but you can’t blame us for loving on all the baby ANIMALS, right? However, our favorite baby human is Moana, who was just as headstrong as her older counterpart, who ends up setting sail and going on a great adventure.

Baby Moana was ready to find out how far she could go (see what we did there?), long before she took to the ocean.

Baby Rapunzel

We LOVE Rapunzel, and she was one cute little baby, and a princess to boot. Of course, later, she did not even KNOW she was a Princess, and knowing how her story plays out and how she’s eventually reunited with her family just makes us love and appreciate her baby version even more.

We ARE kinda’ disappointed we never got to see Baby Flynn Rider, though.

Baby Jack-Jack

So Baby Jack-Jack is super cute, but also a little terrifying since he’s a baby with superpowers, but that’s all part of what makes him cute. You NEVER know what he’s going to do from one minute to the next. Also, how adorable is that one little tooth he has?

Also, a HUGE shout-out to Edna Mode, who turned out to be the BEST babysitter ever for Baby Jack-Jack.

Baby Hercules

Speaking of super babies, we have to talk about Baby Hercules, who seemed to have been born already RIPPED. This baby had MUSCLES. But he also had a head full of curly hair, and that’s just SO cute.

Baby Hercules AND Baby Pegasus? We got BOTH in Hercules!

Baby Tarzan

Baby Tarzan is another child who ended up having a super tragic childhood (seriously, Disney, STOP IT — let these poor kids have their families!). After escaping a ship, he lived happily with his family in a treehouse until a leopard gets a hold of his parents (again, Disney, really?). But he’s cute — we’ll give him that.

Fortunately, baby Tarzan gets adopted into a gorilla family, and eventually meets Jane.

Baby Aurora

We really don’t get to see a lot of Baby Aurora in Sleeping Beauty — she’s always wrapped up tightly in her blankets. But it is obvious how much her parents love her, and we are very sad to know what fate lies in store for her.

We DID see more of Baby Aurora in Maleficent, though, and she looks like an actual human baby (because she is). Still, look at that cute smile.

SO adorable.

Baby Herman

Okay, we’ll admit that Baby Herman in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? freaked us out. He was a BABY, but he moved, acted, and talked like a mob boss.

He also smoked a cigar — what more can we say? Cute? Well, maybe? If you like babies who smoke cigars… However, he was HILARIOUS.

So that’s how we’d rank all the Disney babies, and believe us when we say this was HARD. But it’s all in good fun, and that’s what it’s all about, right?
