Are you ready to enter the Grid?
TRON Lightcycle / Run is officially open in Magic Kingdom today! Disney is using both a Virtual Queue system and Individual Lightning Lanes to manage the demand for this new ride, so you’ll have to be ready bright and early on the My Disney Experience app to secure your spot. If you do happen to snag a Virtual Queue, did you know there’s still one more problem you might face when trying to get on this ride?
At 7AM, if you happened to get a boarding group for a Virtual Queue (those spots fill up quick, so you’ll need to be fast!), you’ll notice that the app gives you an estimated time of return. At some point in the day, Disney will send you a notification that your boarding group has been called, and then you’ll have an hour to make your way over to the ride to scan in. But what happens if you’re late?
Well, for attractions with a similar setup, like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Disney is pretty flexible if you show up late to the ride. However, we’ve been monitoring the situation with TRON during the soft opening, and Cast Members have been a bit stricter with how much time you’ll have to get to the ride.
Now, Disney has even updated the language on the My Disney Experience app and TRON webpageto explicitly say that arriving on time for your boarding group is important. Under the Virtual Queue page, Disney now says “Late arrivals may not be accommodated.”
Previously, during the soft opening, this language was not used. While they were still enforcing that guests be on time in the past, now they are making it very clear that being on time is necessary.
This new attraction is pretty popular at night, so this may be a way for Disney to manage crowds and prevent too many visitors from trying to ride it when it’s dark. Regardless, make sure that you give yourself plenty of time to make your Virtual Queue. You might get called much earlier than your estimated callback time, and if you’re nowhere near Tomorrowland when that happens, it might be a challenge to make it over there in time.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on the situation, so stay tuned to DFB for more!
