Lars Mikkelsen has been confirmed to play Grand Admiral Thrawn in the upcoming “Star Wars: Ahsoka” spinoff series on Disney+.
Mikkelsen voiced Thrawn in the “Star Wars Rebels” animated series. He joins Katee Sackoff (Bo-Katan Kryze) as one of few voice actors to bring their characters to the live action Star Wars universe.
Mitth’raw’nuruodo, better known by his core name Thrawn, is a ruthless and feared Grand Admiral of the Galactic Empire. He first debuted in Legends, a group of stories formerly known as the Star Wars Extended Universe.
Thrawn’s debut was in “Heir to the Empire” by Timothy Zahn. After becoming part of the new canon in “Star Wars Rebels,” Zahn has since written canonical novels about Thrawn.
Thrawn’s live action debut was first hinted at during “The Mandalorian” season 2. Ahsoka asks Morgan Elsbeth for Thrawn’s whereabouts.
The back of Mikkelsen’s head was shown in the “Ahsoka” trailer that debuted yesterday.
“Ahsoka” will debut this August on Disney+.
