Experiences You Must Do at Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Sunset Blvd

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has unique attractions that guests can’t wait to experience. Today, I want to focus on Sunset Blvd. There are so many fun, quirky nooks and crannies here and great attractions you can’t miss. A few days ago, I dedicated a large portion of my day to this section of the park and explored everything it has to offer.

Unfortunately, as of right now, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is closed for refurbishment until Summer 2023, so I wasn’t able to do that. Other than that, I was able to see everything else. As I walked around, I started to take note of experiences that you should add to your must-do list.

Entertainment

There are two shows you can see on Sunset Blvd, Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage and Fantasmic!, the nighttime spectacular. This is hard for me to say, but I would say to put Fantasmic! on your must-do list out of these two. It pains me to say that because I adore the Beauty and the Beast show. I think that the production is full of life and talented performers. For me, it’s on my must-do list, but I know that not everyone loves that film and story as much as I do.

Fantasmic! is the more entertaining and dynamic show that is filled with surprises. This nighttime spectacular was also recently updated, so right now; it’s in the best shape it’s ever been in. New parts have been added to this show, which makes this better than the other entertainment on Sunset Blvd. I highly recommend adding this to your must-do list.

Thrilling Attractions

This section of the park has two thrilling attractions that are sure to blow you away. As of right now, until late summer comes along, only one of those rides is operating. The Tower of Terror is an iconic attraction, and it is one of the few things on Sunset Blvd that is reminiscent of the good old days of Hollywood Studios.

Not only is the attraction thrilling, but the queue is one of the most themed in all of Walt Disney World. The line adds to the anticipation and pulls you into the story of that now-abandoned hotel. I was so afraid of this ride until I was about 13 years old. This happened when I was traveling with my choir group, and they dragged me on the ride. In the end, I ended up having a wonderful time on the attraction as I held on for dear life. Add this ride to your must-do list if you want to immerse yourself in that old Hollywood feeling.

I will say I prefer Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster over Tower of Terror just because I love coasters and enjoy the music of Aerosmith. The attraction does embrace that Hollywood feel but in a different way. It captures that celebrity nightlife and the adrenaline of speeding to a concert. Once this ride opens back up later this year, I suggest checking it out.

Shopping & People Watching

I am not embarrassed to admit that my favorite thing to do on Sunset Blvd is to people-watch. Whether I’m sitting on a bench along the road or at a table facing out and watching the people pass by. Something about the music in this area and the overall environment makes it so fun. I highly recommend doing this at sunset because the street glows differently then.

The stores on this street are uniquely themed even though they carry a lot of essential Disney merchandise. It’s fun to wander through them. One of the best stores is at the Tower of Terror exit because that merchandise can’t be found anywhere else. Honestly, all the stores here have something great to offer; be sure to check them out on your next visit.
