Magic Kingdom
- Due to the Maleficent dragon fire at Disneyland, the Maleficent dragon in Festival of Fantasy parade will not breathe fire for the time being.
- Rockwork is being restored amidst the construction of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
- The 50th anniversary banners featuring Mary Blair’s “Cinderella” concept art were removed from Cinderella Castle.
- A red lighting effect was added to the graveyard hearse in The Haunted Mansion.
EPCOT
- The Morocco Pavilion façade has been chipped during roof construction.
- A New Jersey man was caught smoking, watching pornography, and masturbating — all while riding Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT last month.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- Cast members dug up a time capsule buried beneath Disney’s Animal Kingdom 25 years ago.
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
- Balconies have been added to the Disney Vacation Club tower under construction at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
- Roof construction work continues on the Sago Cay building at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
- Disney has added an extra day in July for the limited-time 30% Annual Passholder discount on Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.
New Merchandise
- New youth and adult shirts feature Mickey & Friends.
- A new Joey Chou Loungefly mini backpack is available.
- Check out this Enchanted Tiki Room José mug.
- New MagicBand+ designs are inspired by “The Lion King,” “The Mandalorian,” and Marvel Comics.
- There are also new “The Mandalorian” phone case, MagicBand, and more designs in MaDe kiosks.
Other Walt Disney World News
- The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board released a document outlining the reasons why they plan to declare Disney’s final development agreement with Reedy Creek null and void.
- A Florida senator filed an amendment to require state inspections for the Walt Disney World Monorails.
Disneyland Resort
- The Maleficent dragon caught fire during a performance of “Fantasmic!”
- The dragon was destroyed and crews were seen working on the “Fantasmic!” set the next morning.
- Disneyland released a statement saying the cause of the fire is under investigation. Similar fire effects at Disney Parks globally were suspended.
- Six Disneyland Cast Members were treated for smoke inhalation but nobody was seriously harmed.
- Peter Pan’s Flight, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, Alice in Wonderland, and The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure will all be closed starting June 5.
