Disney Destinations sent an email to those who held Fantasmic dining packages for this weekend to inform them that their reservations have been canceled.
Fantasmic Dining Packages Cancelled at Disneyland
After the animatronic Maleficent dragon from Fantasmic caught fire last week in Disneyland, performances of the popular nighttime spectacular were canceled for the foreseeable future.
Because of this, Fantasmic Dining Packages and On-the-Go Packages were canceled as well. Disney Destinations sent out an email to inform guests that their reservations for the Fantasmic dining packages were being cancelled due to ‘unforeseen circumstances.’
Part of the email says:
“We see that you have an upcoming reservation to purchase and pick up the Fantasmic On-the-Go Package…We wanted to notify you that due to unforeseen circumstances, performances of Fantasmic are temporarily paused and we are not able to accommodate your booking or offer you the Fantasmic On-the-Go Packages at thus time.”
It continues to say:
“As a result, we are cancelling your upcoming reservation and the credit card on file will not be charged for this experience…We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your flexibility.”
The email also noted that guests are still able to eat at the restaurants that offered the dining packages as they will still be open during their standard operational hours with their normal menu.

Maleficent Dragon Catches Fire During “Fantasmic!” Performance at Disneyland
Guests were evacuated from Adventureland last Saturday night as Maleficent, in dragon form, caught fire during a performance of “Fantasmic!” in Disneyland.
Our onsite reporter caught footage of the dragon, still burning, as the show came to a premature end for safety. The fire fell from the dragon’s mouth onto Tom Sawyer Island below. The cause seems to reportedly be a leak of flammable fluid, seen dripping down from the mouth moments before the fireball effect went off.
Guests in the western end of the park were rapidly evacuated, and all offerings west of the Jungle Cruise were quickly shut down.
Sources have told WDWNT that the Maleficent dragon collapsed as crews raced to extinguish the fire. Unconfirmed reports have claimed that the entire stage area for the nighttime spectacular has also collapsed. Future performances of “Fantasmic!” have been removed from the Disneyland schedule, with performances not scheduled until May 26 at the earliest. The Anaheim Fire Department has confirmed that no injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.
Less than an hour after the evacuation began, Adventureland reopened to guests, while Frontierland, New Orleans Square, and Critter Country remain closed off.
