Disney World has been open for almost two months, but there’s still much of the property that remains closed.
Many Disney World resort hotels are open or have reopening dates set, some are partially open to DVC members, and some do not have a reopening timeframe at all. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, for instance, has availability at the DVC Villas and Bungalows right now but wasn’t set to fully open until next October. Now, that reopening has been delayed.
Disney World announced this morning that the reopening date for Polynesian Village Resort will be pushed back from October 4th to next summer. The Villas and Bungalows will remain open during this time.
The reopening has been delayed to create an opportunity to finish some refurbishment work at Polynesian such as enhancements to the Great Ceremonial House and Guest rooms. Work on this project is expected to begin in October.
For guests with impacted reservations, Disney will be reaching out to you and/or your travel professional to explain the change. Impacted guests will be accommodated at a different Disney World Resort hotel for no additional charge. If you had an upcoming reservation at Polynesian Village Resort, keep an eye out for an email from Disney.
As with most situations right now, the dates and refurbishment plan for Polynesian Village are subject to change. Disney notes that they will continue to monitor the situation and impact of the global health crisis in Florida. As always, stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates!
