Why You Should Look UP the Next Time You’re at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Imagineers are responsible for so much of the Disney magic we know and love.

From Disneyland to Disney World and beyond, the parks just wouldn’t be the same without them. One important Imagineer, Bob Weis, retired at the end of 2022, and Disney just revealed how they’ve chosen to honor him and his contributions to the company! And if you ask us, it’s pretty iconic.

Disney Imagineer Bob Weis retired at the end of 2022. At the time of his retirement, he was the Global Imagineering Ambassador and was also formerly the President of Walt Disney Imagineering. He wrote in an email, “I will always be proud to have led Imagineering from 2016-2021, and to be your Global Ambassador in 2022.”

But now, Disney has honored Bob Weis in a classic — and iconic — way. Walt Disney Imagineering shared on Instagram that Bob has been honored with his very own window in Hollywood Studios! This is a tradition for legendary Imagineers and other folks who have made important contributions to Disney.

It looks like Bob got to check the window out in person and even got to take home his own version (how do we get one of those?!?!). He played an important role when Hollywood Studios was brought to life in 1989 (and was still MGM Studios!), so it’s perfectly fitting that this is where you’ll find the new window! It’s located above Hollywood & Vine, so keep an eye out for it the next time you’re in the park.

Congratulations to Bob Weis on this achievement! We’re always looking out for news from Disney World, and if you’re heading to Hollywood Studios soon there’s even more news you can use: a virtual queue has been added for a special event, and tons of new treats are coming too — check them out here!

Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World news.
