The Newest Disney World Restaurant Is the Perfect Place for Cinco de Mayo

Are you ready to celebrate Cinco de Mayo?

Our Table

According to History.com, the holiday “celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War.” While it is “relatively minor” in terms of holidays over in Mexico, in the United States it has become a day to celebrate Mexican culture and heritage. If you’re going to be in Disney World to celebrate, we’ve got the perfect place for you to do so. It’s time to head over to Disney World’s Swan and Dolphin Resorts to check out Rosa Mexicano!

Rosa Mexicano (located at the Dolphin Resort) offers guests an elevated fiesta dining experience” for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can expect to find a contemporary interpretation of authentic Mexican cuisine that pays homage to Mexico’s rich culinary dishes.

We visited this new restaurant on its opening night (for dinner) and have given a FULL food review so you know what to expect.

Menu

There are plenty of options on the menu here (this is a peek at the dinner menu), so you won’t go hungry!

More Food!

And if it’s drinks you’re after, they have PLENTY. There are actually over 100 varieties of tequila and agave-based spirits!

And you can grab wine…

…cocktails, and beers.

Overall, we really enjoyed our meal! We had a friendly, knowledgeable server, and absolutely loved some of the things we got to eat, especially the Roasted Chicken Suizas (these feature Tomatillo Salsa Verde, Chihuahua Cheese, Crema, Cilantro, and Onion).

The salsa verde had a really robust flavor — tangy with a bit of a kick, while also tasting fresh and bright. Plus, the chicken was tender, the cilantro was fresh, and the tortillas were soft — wins all around.

Roasted Chicken Suizas

Though the queso was thin, it was incredibly flavorful and the pickled jalapenos added just the right amount of kick. It’s a total WIN for cheese lovers, so consider grabbing this during your stop here!

Queso for the Win

We also enjoyed the Birria Quesatacos (brisket was wonderfully flavorful and the textures were ON POINT).

While this isn’t the cheapest food on Disney World property, it can be more reasonable than certain other table-service restaurants. Plus, since it is located at the Dolphin Hotel, it’s just STEPS away from EPCOT — making it really convenient.

But, its location (tucked away in the Dolphin Resort, where other Disney guests might not think to go) coupled with how new it is can make this spot fly under the radar. If you’re looking for a meal with a little bit less “hecticness” compared to an in-park restaurant or other more popular spots, this could be THE place to go.

Just note that when we visited, it wasn’t exactly quiet. The music wasn’t all that loud to us, but we could see it being too noisy for some (particularly because the hard surfaces here can make the sounds bounce around a bit).

Our Taco!

Overall, if you are looking to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with some Mexican food, this has some tasty selections. Plus, it’s all served in a beautiful, airy, colorful restaurant with upbeat music (really fulfilling that fiesta vibe). Just note that many of the dishes are heavy on the cilantro side, it can be a little louder, and kids might be challenged to find something they like here.

Open and Airy

Not going to be in Disney World but still want to try this spot? Rosa Mexicano also has locations in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Maryland, with additional locations coming to Connecticut, Virginia, North Carolina, and Las Vegas, Nevada.

Looking for other spots to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Disney World? If you’re willing to brave some anticipated crowds, La Cava del Tequila in the Mexico pavilion (EPCOT) could be a great spot, along with the many other snack spots/restaurants at that pavilion. And Frontera Cocina (Disney Springs) has announced some Cinco de Mayo offerings as well.

Paradiso 37 (Disney Springs) will have a Cinco de Mayo special as well.

Maya Grill (Disney’s Coronado Springs) might be another option to consider for some tasty eats (the churros here are a DREAM).
